10. Ninja

While Ninja has really stepped away from the competitive scene, he is still one of the most prominent and most talented gamers in Fortnite. He’s still a regular streamer for the game and plays more than most, and his streams and clips showcase that he’s still got it. Despite moving to Zero Build and really not doing much professional playing these days, he deserves a mention here because he is far better than the vast majority of those who play the game, even those who do it competitively.

9. Pollo

Pollo is one of the strongest gamers out there in 2025. He is one half of the last Global Champions duo, and Pollo is the only player to achieve four FNCS wins in each Chapter of the game. That alone is worthy of praise and something on a level that so few video game players have ever reached. He has stumbled a bit recently, but he’s still easily near the top of Fortnite. He even has a Major victory in 2025, proving he hasn’t fallen too far despite swapping out duo partners.

8. Eomzo

Eomzo is part of one of the most star-studded trios in Fortnite, but that doesn’t take anything away from his being one of the best players in Fortnite. He and his teammates took on a stacked lobby in the 2025 Major and still came in second place, which was an incredibly impressive feat. They were the unfortunate victims of some griefing, but despite the somewhat unfair attack, they still scored exceptionally well, thanks in no small part to Eomzo.

7. Clix

There was a time when Clix could’ve claimed to be the best Fortnite player in the world. That time has passed, but he’s still one of the 10 best with ease. Like Ninja, he does a lot of streaming, but he hasn’t scaled back or stepped down from competitive play. He competed in the FNCS Major and placed very well. He’s still quite the talent, as evidenced by his streams doing incredible numbers and his clips showcasing elite skills.

6. Pixie

Consider it a very strong 2025 for Pixie, whose victory at the FNCS this year marks his first and cements his status as one of the best gamers in the world. This wasn’t an overnight turn, though. Pixie has been working and improving for a while in search of such a breakout. He earned wins in some of the stacked Cash Cups in Chapter 5, and he placed third at the FNCS 2023 Global Championship before finally winning in 2025.

5. Higgs

Higgs, part of Clix’s team, is another unrivaled player for Fortnite. The second Major of Chapter 6 was easily his coming-out party, as he dominated the gameplay and really showed why he and his teammates are forces to be reckoned with. With a slightly more upward trajectory, he could be a champion in the very near future.

4. Vanyak3k

Vanyak is one of the best players in the world after his team dominated in Europe in 2025. He was part of an absurd performance in the last Major, helping set the bar incredibly high with four victories during Major 2 leaderboard with countless eliminations. It was his second FNCS win, too, so he’s clearly having success that so few others are.

3. Acorn

Acorn got a little bit of a late start to his Fortnite journey in 2020. However, he took first place in the Ninja Battles before taking on the FNCS Grand Finals in Chapter 2 Season 5. That was where he really started to gain notoriety. He would go on to land a third-place finish in the FNCS 2023 and fourth place not a year later. It did take until the FNCS 2023 Majors for him to come home a win, but he followed those up in 2024 and 2025, making him a great player.

2. Joshua “Cold” Butler

With a name like Cold, you have to be good at the game. Fortunately, Cold definitely is. He finished first at the Esports World Cup recently. He also won at the first Major of 2024, the first of 2023, placed third at the 2022 Invitational, and won again at the 2023 Global Championship. Even today, he remains a dominant force.

Despite some aimbot allegations, Peterbot is definitely the best Fornite player in the world by almost any metric. Some would consider him the best Fortnite player ever, not just right now. No one else in today’s landscape is in that conversation, which makes Peterbot an easy pick.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 leaks suggest major changes are coming

Every so often, Epic Games makes pretty big changes to Fortnite. The transition from Chapter 4 to Chapter 5 was hugely consequential for the game. Transitioning into Chapter 6 and then into Chapter 7 didn’t have the same effect, but the game did undergo its biggest changes during those shifts.

Typically, the biggest updates are between chapters, but this time, it’s going to be between Fortnite seasons. According to leaker ShiinaBR, the next season is going to be very different from the current season.

The leak suggests that almost the entire loot pool is going to be swapped out. There will be pretty much no returning guns, which is almost unheard of in this video game. Usually, only a few guns are vaulted or introduced in a new season.

There are going to be “multiple new” movement items. Movement is a key part of the game, especially as it pertains to non-vehicle movement. Chapter 7 Season 2 might be the season that is remembered for its mobility when it’s all said and done. This includes team movement items.

The leak indicates that gameplay will be more “complex” again, though it’s unclear now what that means exactly. Future leaks will likely hint at gameplay changes, thereby revealing what could change in this aspect. It is also very possible that the gameplay will evolve during a single match.

Other changes teased include:

• New drop-in mechanic similar to the tsunami
• New melee items
• “Loony Tunes” effects
• A new meta loot spot
• Humorous gameplay items
• New experimental XP feature

Put simply, don’t get too attached to how the game works now, because Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 will be very different.

According to multiple sources, all seven members of The Seven now have voice actors. Most notably and most recently, it was announced that Ben Starr would be voicing The Visitor.

Starr is one of the most prominent and prolific voice actors in the gaming sphere. He just played in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. He is also known for roles in Final Fantasy XVI, Hades II, Warframe: 1999, Tekken 8, and Arknights.

Dwayne Johnson is back as The Foundation. Brie Larson is back as The Paradigm, and Joel McHale returns to voice The Scientist. Those three are much more known in the movie/television space than gaming, but they’re absolutely big celebrities, especially Johnson.

Cherami Leigh will voice The Imagined. She was in Highguard, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, The Outer Worlds 2, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Persona 3 Reload, and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Finally, Laura Bailey is voicing The Order. She is almost video game royalty. Bailey was in Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us Part II, Dispatch, Marvel Rivals, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Days Gone, and so many more.

Now, all of them are part of Fortnite. That game may not have the story-based nature that many of their other roles have, but it’s still a pretty significant voice role, and they will all help further the Fortnite lore.

It’s not as simple as sticking an “e” in front of sports, though. Esports, e-sports, esports, and eSports have all been used at times, but which one is the correct spelling and format?

How to spell esports correctly

The correct way to spell the word is “esports.” Despite there being a lot of debate over the correct spelling, grammar, and capitalization of esports, in 2017, the Associated Press put an end to the questioning at the American Copy Editors Society Convention. For their style guide, which reigns supreme in the world of journalism, “esports” is correct.

This is because of their research in Google Trends, which revealed that people search for the term without hyphens or capital letters, although it’s worth mentioning that people do that for everything. There’s rarely an apostrophe, capital, hyphen, or anything in a Google search for any topic.

It was not always this way. According to Sport Digest, the first use of the term was in 1999, and it was spelt “eSports.” It was likened to email, which used to be spelt “e-mail” before the hyphen was dropped in modern grammar.

There is still some debate over the capitalization of the word. Sport Digest also reported that news agencies aren’t consistent across the board, sometimes capitalizing it “Esports” or even “eSports.” Nowhere is the hyphen present, though.

Dominic Sacco, for British Esports, echoed Sport Digest’s take on it, saying that odd capitalization and hyphenation make no sense with this word. The word is as straightforward as it should be, with recent decisions helping remove the odd origins of the word’s spelling.

Is it esport or e-sport?

When things are made singular, the spelling can change. The English language has all sorts of weird intricacies like that, and when words are invented or popularized, as esports has been lately, it can be difficult to know exactly what the right spelling and grammar should be. It’s one of the things that makes learning the language a challenging endeavor.

It is widely accepted, and claimed by the AP, that “esports” is correct. But what if it’s a single game? One wouldn’t call Fortnite or Valorant an esports because that’s poor grammar. Would one call it esport or e-sport?

There’s very little guidance on this, from the AP or any other source. However, since we know that most of the world does not capitalize or hyphen the plural version, we can safely apply those same rules to the singular version.

You would say, “League of Legends is an esport,” rather than “League of Legends is an e-sport.” The same logic, which is that the hyphen and capital letters in the middle of the word are a strange way to go about it, applies here.

Slowly but surely, actual songs with lyrics that are from real recording artists have become a much bigger part of the Battle Royale and its other modes. Now, players can put on songs while they’re playing a regular 100 PvP Battle Royale match.

Fortnite allows music in background of matches

As of now, Fortnite players can use their jam tracks in a regular Battle Royale match. Players can harvest trees to the sound of Popular by The Weeknd or build-fight with an enemy to the backing sound of Buddy Holly by Weezer.

The new feature was shown off in this video shared by several leakers. Players can simply go to the emote wheel, select a jam track, and have it begin playing in the background. This is likely the final evolution for the feature.

Music used to be nothing to Fortnite. Then, it started being added to emotes. Car radios could play certain songs. The arrival of Festival mode, though, accelerated everything, adding many new ways to use it. Around the same time, emotes in the Fortnite ICON Series began using both music and lyrics from actual songs.

But Festival introduced Jam Tracks, which have ultimately led to this. Even in Battle Royale mode, players could pick up an instrument and play a piece of their Jam Track. With four total people, the whole song would be performed.

Then, Epic Games allowed Jam Tracks to be used when skydiving out of the Battle Bus and as a celebration of a Victory Royale. I use Applause by Lady Gaga when skydiving and Africa by Toto when I win, for example.

Now, gamers can simply pick any Jam Track, mostly from the Fortnite Item Shop, that they have and set it to play during the match. There’s really no upward evolution for the feature anymore, so this is the pinnacle of music in Fortnite.

However, according to a new leak, the mode was vaulted at the onset of this week and is probably not going to return to active playlists. It’s not clear why Epic did this, other than the simple fact that it was a limited-time mode not meant to stick around forever.

Fortnite Delulu mode reportedly not coming back

According to leaker ShiinaBR, Delulu has officially been vaulted. It is “permanently” removed from the game. It was reportedly always an LTM (limited time mode) by Epic, but it’s gone for good now. After just four months, players will no longer be able to link up with randoms in their solo games.

This particular mode allowed for a totally unique experience every single time since players could choose to join or leave teams as the game went on.  It functioned similarly to Among Us in that people could lie their way to victory and backstab their fellow players.

Things that are vaulted can come back. Epic Games vaults and unvaults things, game modes and all, whenever they want to. However, some things do enter the vault and don’t come back. The Avengers LTM from 2019 is a good example.

However, that was a collaborative mode that featured licensed items, so it’s a little bit different. Delulu is just Battle Royale with a wrinkle, so it could come back. If there’s enough demand, Epic may one day add it to the playlist permanently.

The use of “permanently” in the leak is noteworthy, though. It is probably best not to expect Delulu to come back.

Fortnite is always introducing new game modes, some of which end up as permanent staples of the game. OG, Zero Build, Creative, Rocket Royale, Blitz, and others are now playable at any given time, keeping the limited-time nature of LTMs out and allowing them to stick around.

Delulu was only available for a few months (and only on weekends for much of that time). While it did last longer than most LTMs, it was still limited.

It probably isn’t the biggest sandbox out there, though. That title still likely belongs to Minecraft, which will potentially be a part of the newest Fortnite crossover event.

Fortnite x Minecraft reportedly coming soon

According to several leakers, a Fortnite crossover with Minecraft is coming soon. The leaks don’t have much information on exactly when, but it is expected to arrive in the coming months. It should be here before the end of Chapter 7.

The leaks also don’t reveal what this crossover might entail. It is highly unlikely that it gets its own game mode, especially since LEGO Fortnite is very similar to Minecraft. It’s a survival mode that has crafting.

What is more likely is a batch of skins, emotes, and other cosmetics. Steve and Alex, the de facto main characters of Mojang’s hit title, are probably the wrong size and shape to include as a standard skin, but Epic Games has gotten creative with that before.

The tools players use, like pickaxes and swords, are highly likely to end up as harvesting tools in this collaboration. There will also probably be some sidekicks, such as a Minecraft wolf, cat, bunny, pig, or chicken.

It’s also possible that some POIs or landmarks pop up. Minecraft has a ton of iconic biomes, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if some of them ended up on the Fortnite map as a result.

Given the block-based nature of Minecraft, it will be interesting to see what Epic Games comes up with. Thus far, nothing in Fortnite is exclusively blocky, so the players can expect possibly an entirely fresh experience, depending on how much Minecraft ends up in Fortnite.

One day after Epic Games introduced the microtransactions feature to Fortnite, one popular island took the idea and ran with it. Steal the Brainrot is one of the most-played third-party experiences, and it took advantage of that.

Players could join the map and purchase a “Present Rot” bundle, which costs 4900 V-Bucks. If gamers purchase those and don’t already have them, it will cost $37 of real-life currency for a 5,000 V-Buck bundle; otherwise, they are more costly.

That is quite the cost for a microtransaction within a Creative map on Fortnite. Some entirely new video games do not even cost that much. Additionally, Steal the Brainrot implemented a new wheel that players can spin for 100 V-Bucks. It can grant in-game perks or cash to spend in the map.

Since then, according to VideoGamer, the island has been taken down. The map developer claimed it was a bug that led to the removal of the mode. Nevertheless, the timing is certainly curious.

Plenty of games have some version of gambling, and many games, such as the EA FC series, have been in hot water for their microtransaction-heavy business model. However, there’s only a random chance of getting a good card. Other sports games have that same system.

The game’s past

It’s also interesting to note that Fortnite has been criticized for influencing its younger audience to spend money. The FTC issued refunds to countless players who spent money on V-Bucks in the early days of the game.

Additionally, Epic was sued over loot boxes in Save the World. They were removed, with Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney saying at the time, “We realized that some players were repeatedly disappointed by not receiving the random items they hoped for. Players should know upfront what they are paying for when they make in-game purchases.”

It remains to be seen what the future of these microtransactions is. It’s worth mentioning that the entire thing is in its infancy. Epic Games may make changes to how they function at some point.

Fortnite adding new V-Bucks transactions in-game

Based on a new leak, there’s going to be a new way to spend Fortnite V-Bucks pretty soon. On January 9, the micro-transactions will get even more micro.

Leaker HYPEX shared that, on January 9, players will be able to use their currency for something called “in-island transactions”. The example was a corn seed pack for a Creative map.

This won’t change anything for Battle Royale in Chapter 7. For now, all the in-mode purchases are made with gold. You can purchase a reboot card, buy items from a vending machine, upgrade your items, and more, but that has nothing to do with V-Bucks.

This is strictly a Creative mode option for now, but it could open the door to other modes in the future. If this is successful, it would not be a surprise if the in-game transactions grew.

For example, Epic Games could allow players to spend V-Bucks in Battle Royale to add more gold to use. This could be useful if players really need to reboot their friends or buy a great weapon. It could also mean more ways to provide advantage for paying players, sadly.

For now, it’s a limited option, but that might not be the case forever, especially if Epic Games sees a lot of growth because of this.

However, a recent ad, which has since been deleted, went live and featured several highly inappropriate slang terms, seemingly aiming at an older, edgier audience than usual.

For the most part, despite it featuring primary directive to eliminate every other player, Fortnite is a notably kid-friendly game. It’s not graphic, violent, or adult in the broader sense of the word. The art style and the gameplay are pretty innocent, and it’s tough to characterise Fortnite as a “violent” game based on art style and direction alone.

In recent months, the overall narrative has shifted a little bit, including more adult-themed skins. Peter Griffin, Kim Kardashian, and The Bride from Kill Bill are not exactly things geared towards kids. Still, they are considered relatively “friendly”-

What is not really friendly is the latest fortnite ad. In a shocking twist, the ad went full adult content. It had the following phrases framed like reviews on a movie:

• “F**k the Dark Voyager” – The Bus Driver
• Like a f*****g fever dream” – FN Posting
• The best f*****g game ever” – Jonesy Frotting

The swear words are one thing, but that third and final username is another entirely. Jonesy is the de facto main character of the game, but that last word in his name is something you’d find on Urban Dictionary, and not in a good way.

The ad was taken down after being up for almost two hours. The game has not released an official statement about the ad, though it was clearly regrettable. The official Fortnite account has mainly been posting about new additions, including the new Batman Beyond collaboration.

The Status account has only posted once in the last 24 hours, and it had nothing to do with the ad, so it seems as if this controversial ad is being ignored. Epic Games may be hoping the problem goes away on its own.

How could this happen?

So what happened here? It’s impossible to say, but the most plausible explanation is that some social media manager/intern went rogue and tried to be funny in an edgy way, and it backfired.

The alternative is that Fortnite thought it would be a good idea and immediately regretted it, but that seems unlikely.
