Most popular esports games to bet on
Popular esports games for betting include Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, VALORANT, Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Fortnite. These titles encompass several genres, including first-person shooters (FPS), multiplayer online battle arenas (MOBAs) and battle royale games.
Many online sports betting sites offer markets on major tournaments for these games, although availability varies by bookmaker and region. Common markets include match winners, map winners, handicaps and totals, while game-specific options may include total kills or in-game objectives. The markets available depend on the title, event and bookmaker.
Counter-Strike 2 Betting
Counter-Strike is a tactical shooter where two teams take turns playing as Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists. The Terrorists typically aim to plant a bomb, while the Counter-Terrorists try to stop them or defuse it. Players earn in-game money through kills, round outcomes and other actions, which they use to buy weapons and equipment.
I cover the main betting options and recommended bookmakers in my CS2 betting guide
League of Legends Betting
League of Legends is a MOBA where two teams of five players compete to destroy the enemy’s Nexus. Each player chooses a champion with unique abilities. Players earn gold by killing minions, defeating opponents and taking objectives, then spend it on items to strengthen their champions. To win, a team must work together to break through the enemy’s defences and destroy its Nexus. In my LoL betting guide, I cover the betting options available for this popular esports.
VALORANT Betting
If you enjoy CS2, you might also like VALORANT. It’s another tactical first-person shooter, but agents have unique abilities that add an extra layer of strategy to gunfights.
Teams alternate between attacking and defending. Attackers aim to plant the Spike and protect it until it detonates, while defenders try to stop the plant or defuse the Spike. In standard play, the first team to win 13 rounds takes the map, although overtime can apply. I explain the available markets and betting options in my VALORANT betting guide.
Dota 2 Betting
Dota 2 is another popular MOBA, featuring two teams of five players who select heroes with different abilities. Teams gather resources, strengthen their heroes and work together to take objectives across the map.
The main goal is to destroy the opposing team’s Ancient, a key structure inside its base. Major tournaments attract top teams from around the world, and betting markets may include match winners, map winners and other game-specific options. My Dota 2 betting guide covers the game and its betting markets in more detail.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Betting
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a mobile MOBA with a strong competitive scene, particularly in Southeast Asia. Its esports calendar includes Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) competitions and the M-Series world championship events.
Depending on the bookmaker and tournament, betting markets may include match winners, map winners, handicaps, map totals and first blood. Live betting may also be available for selected matches. I cover the available options in my Mobile Legends betting guide.

Types of bets for esports betting online
Esports betting offers several types of markets, from predicting the overall match winner to betting on individual maps, scores and in-game statistics. I’ve listed the most common options below, with examples to help you understand how each bet works. Availability varies by game, tournament and bookmaker.
| Bet type | How it works | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Match winner | Predict which team will win the entire match or series. | Predicting Team A to win a best-of-three series 2–0 or 2–1. |
| Map winner | Predict which team will win a specific map within a series. | Betting on Team B to win Map 1. |
| First map | Predict which team will win the opening map. This is a map-winner bet focused specifically on Map 1. | Predicting Team A to win the first map in a CS2 series. |
| Handicap | A virtual advantage or disadvantage is applied to a team’s map, round or other result. The team must cover the handicap for the bet to win. | Team A at −1.5 maps in a best-of-three must win 2–0. |
| Over/under (totals) | Predict whether a statistic will finish above or below a line set by the bookmaker. | Betting on over or under 2.5 maps in a best-of-three series. |
| Odd/even | Predict whether a specified final total will be odd or even. The statistic depends on the market offered. | Predicting whether the combined number of kills will be even. |
| Correct score | Predict the exact final score of a match or series. | Predicting a 2–1 series win for Team A. |
| Tournament winner (outright) | Predict which team or player will win an entire tournament. | Predicting the winner of a major CS2 tournament. |
| Qualification / group-stage markets | Predict an outcome within a tournament’s format, such as which team qualifies for the playoffs or finishes top of a group. | Predicting Team A to qualify for the playoffs. |
| Live (in-play) betting | Place bets after a match starts, on markets that remain available as the action unfolds. | Betting on a map winner or total rounds while a CS2 map is in progress. |
Some betting markets are tied to specific game mechanics, such as first blood in MOBAs or pistol-round winners in tactical shooters. I’ve included examples for popular esports titles below to show how betting options differ between games. Not every bookmaker offers all these markets, and some are only available for selected events.
| Game | Examples of game-specific markets | What you’re predicting |
|---|---|---|
| Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) | First kill, pistol-round winner, total rounds, round handicap, player kills, headshots | Which team wins the opening pistol round, whether a map exceeds a specified number of rounds, or whether a player records more than a set number of kills. |
| VALORANT | First blood, pistol-round winner, total rounds, round handicap, player kills | Which team gets the first kill, wins a pistol round or covers a round handicap. |
| League of Legends (LoL) | First blood, first tower, first dragon, first Baron, total kills, player kills | Which team secures the first kill or destroys the first tower, or whether combined kills exceed a set total. |
| Dota 2 | First blood, first tower, first Roshan, total kills, game duration | Which team gets first blood, kills Roshan first or finishes with more than a specified number of kills. |
| Mobile Legends: Bang Bang | First blood, first turret, total kills, map totals, player kills | Which team gets first blood, destroys the first turret or exceeds a specified kill total. |
| Fortnite | Tournament winner, player or team placement, total eliminations | Which player or team finishes first, reaches a particular placement or records more than a specified number of eliminations. |
Best esports betting strategies for 2026
The most useful esports betting strategies focus on estimating match outcomes, comparing odds and managing risk. Team form, roster changes, map pools, game patches and tournament formats can all influence a match, so research should be specific to the game and competition.
1. Research Teams and Recent Form
Look beyond a team’s overall win rate before placing a bet. Recent results can be misleading if they involve weaker opponents, different maps or a previous roster.
Check these factors before assessing a match:
- Recent form: Review each team’s latest results and the strength of its opponents. Our match pages include recent form and previous results.
- Roster changes: Check for new players, stand-ins, role changes and recent team transfers.
- Head-to-head records: Compare the teams’ previous meetings, keeping in mind any roster changes or differences in match conditions. You can find head-to-head statistics on our match pages.
- Map or game preferences: In CS2, examine map pools and map-specific win rates. In League of Legends and Dota 2, consider team performance on the current patch.
- Tournament format: Best-of-one matches generally leave less room for teams to recover from a poor start than best-of-three series.
Use our esports live match pages to compare recent form and head-to-head records, alongside tournament results and the latest esports news for context on roster changes and team performance.
2. Understanding Esports Betting Odds
Understanding how esports betting odds work can help you compare prices across sportsbooks and understand the potential returns of a bet.
Odds are displayed in different formats depending on the sportsbook and region:
- Decimal odds: Show your total potential return, including your original stake.
- Fractional odds: Show your potential profit relative to your stake.
- American odds: Use positive and negative numbers to indicate potential profit or the stake required to make $100 in profit.
Odds also change during live betting as match developments influence the prices offered by sportsbooks. Comparing odds can help you identify differences in available prices, but higher odds do not guarantee a better bet.
⚠️ Before betting:
- Compare odds for the same market across multiple sportsbooks.
- Go to our live match pages and look at recent results, head-to-head records and other match stats to judge which team is more likely to win.
- Odds suggest how likely a result is. Look at who the bookmakers are favouring to win.
- Avoid betting if you don’t have enough information to judge a match; don’t guess. It’s fine not to place a bet.
- Higher odds do not necessarily mean better value. Higher odds offer a bigger potential payout, but usually indicate a less likely outcome. A bet may offer better value when your research suggests the outcome is more likely than the odds imply.
3. Be Careful with Live Esports Betting
Live betting lets you place bets while a match is happening. Odds change as the game develops.
- CS2 and Valorant: Watch the score, rounds won and team economy.
- League of Legends and Dota 2: Look at kills, gold differences and important objectives.
- Battle royale games: Check how many players remain and their positions.
Don’t assume a team will win just because it starts well. Odds can change quickly, and you may not have time to react. Set a spending limit and never increase your bets to recover losses.
4. Understand Arbitrage Betting
Arbitrage means placing bets on every possible outcome at different sportsbooks to try to lock in a profit. This may be possible when the odds are favourable enough. However, odds can change, bets can be limited or rejected, and different rules or fees can turn a possible profit into a loss. Arbitrage does not guarantee a profit.
5. Be Careful With Accumulators and Very Low Odds
An accumulator combines several bets into one. Every wager needs to win for the whole bet to pay out. For example, imagine you pick three esports teams, and each has a 70% chance of winning. Even if each team is likely to win on its own, the chance of all three winning is only about 34%. The more bets you add, the harder it becomes for every pick to be correct.
Don’t combine bets just to chase a bigger payout. Consider each bet on its own.
Common mistakes to avoid when betting on esports
- Chasing losses: This is the easiest way to find yourself in financial trouble. When you’ve had a loss, you should accept it and move on. Only place bets that you would have, regardless of the outcome.
- Not sticking to your budget: Decide on a betting budget. Regardless of what happens, you should avoid breaking your limits.
- Ignoring stats: When it comes to research, you should never ignore the stats. Every piece of information should be taken into consideration when placing your bets, so that you’re making informed picks.
- Not staying up-to-date: Follow the prominent teams and players, check out social media feeds, and follow everyone’s moves. Make sure you know exactly what’s happening, so you stay ahead of the game.
Bets on esports tournaments and events
Esports tournaments and events are the heartbeat of the competitive gaming world, drawing massive audiences and offering thrilling opportunities for esports betting. The biggest events, such as the League of Legends World Championship and the Dota 2 International, feature the world’s top teams battling for glory and multi-million dollar prize pools.
Sites which are deeply embedded in the esports scene, like GG.Bet, Stake, BC.Game and Thunderpick provide extensive coverage of these tournaments, giving fans access to a wide variety of betting markets and competitive odds. You can bet on match winners, tournament champions, and even specific player performances, adding an extra layer of excitement to every match.

What to look for in an esports betting site
Choosing an esports betting site depends on the games you follow, the markets available, the odds offered and whether the operator is licensed to accept bets in your location.
Browse our recommended bookmakers throughout this page and read our esports betting site reviews before choosing a platform.
Key Factors When Choosing an Esports Betting Site
I compare bookmakers based on their game coverage, betting features, payment methods, mobile experience and customer support:
Game coverage and betting markets:
Check that the bookmaker covers your preferred games and offers the markets you want, including pre-match and live betting where available.
Odds:
Compare odds across bookmakers for the same event and market. Higher odds can mean a larger potential payout, but they do not guarantee value or a winning bet.
Licensing and eligibility:
Verify the operator’s licence and whether it is authorised to offer esports betting in your location. Check age requirements and local restrictions before registering.
Payments and withdrawals:
Check the available deposit and withdrawal methods, minimum and maximum limits, fees, verification requirements and processing times.
Mobile experience:
Look for a usable mobile website or a dedicated app if you plan to access the site on your phone. App availability and features vary by operator and region.
Customer support:
Check how you can contact support, its stated operating hours and whether the operator provides clear information about account issues and complaints.
Bonuses and promotions:
Compare the terms, including qualifying deposits, wagering requirements, expiry dates, withdrawal restrictions and eligibility. A bonus is not automatically good value.
Types of esports bonuses
Esports betting bonuses can be found in all shapes and sizes. These may include welcome offers, no-deposit bonuses, free bets, risk-free bet promotions and reload bonuses.
⚠️ Each offer has its own eligibility requirements and terms, so make sure to always check terms and conditions before.
- Welcome bonus: Welcome bonuses are the most common type of esports promotions. This is a one-time offer that is only given to first-time users at registration. Some platforms will require you to opt in during registration, deposit within a set period or meet other conditions. Not every offer is activated at registration, and eligibility rules vary.
- No deposit bonus: These are promotional credits offered without requiring an initial deposit, but that does not mean that there won’t be other restrictions; other conditions may apply, and the bonus or associated winnings may not be immediately withdrawable, or bonus credits may not necessarily be withdrawable as cash.
- Free bet: A bookmaker-provided stake that can be used on eligible events. The original free-bet stake is commonly excluded from winnings, so check the terms.
- Risk-free bets: A free bet and a risk-free bet are not the same thing. A free bet is typically a stake provided by the bookmaker; a risk-free or money-back offer usually involves a qualifying wager with a refund or credit if it loses.
- Reload offers: A reload bonus is one that comes after depositing money into your esports account. It can be given to you in a variety of forms, such as a deposit bonus, free bets, credits for placing bets, and much more.
Esports betting apps and mobile sites
Many bookmakers let you place esports bets through a mobile-optimised interface or a dedicated app. Features may include live odds, account management, deposits and withdrawals, and in-play betting. Live streaming and mobile promotions are not available at every operator or in every region.
⚠️ Before downloading an app, confirm that it comes from the operator’s official website or an authorised app store, and check that the service is available where you live.
Payment methods and withdrawal times
Payment options vary by bookmaker and location. Common methods include:
| Payment Method | Deposit Speed | Withdrawal Speed | Maximum Allowed Withdrawal per Month | Fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Credit/Debit Cards | Instant | Up to 48 Hours | 50,000€ | 1-2% (Depending on Card Provider) |
| E-Wallets | Instant | Up to 24 Hours | 50,000€ | 0% |
| Bank Transfer | Up to 24 Hours | 3 – 5 Business Days | 100,000€ | 0% |
| Cryptocurrency | Instant | Instant | 50,000€ | 0% |
💳 Credit/Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
✅️ Pros: Widely accepted and offer instant deposits.
❌️ Cons: Often can’t be used for withdrawals and may incur fees.
📱 eWallets (PayPal, Skrill, Neteller)
✅️ Pros: Fast transactions, added privacy by not sharing banking info, and typically easy to use.
❌️ Cons: Possible withdrawal fees, lower limits, and not always supported by all sites.
🎫 Prepaid Vouchers (Paysafecard, Flexepin)
✅️ Pros: Quick and secure payments, ideal for setting spending limits.
❌️ Cons: Only work for deposits and usually have low transaction limits.
🌐 Cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Litecoin, USDT, Ether)
✅️ Pros: Fast transfers, minimal fees, privacy-focused, generous bonus potential, flexible limits, and strong security.
❌️ Cons: Subject to market volatility and requires a crypto wallet for receiving payouts.
Which esports betting sites offer the fastest payouts?
There is no single payment method or bookmaker that is always the fastest. Withdrawal times depend on the operator’s processing procedures, account verification, payment provider and, for cryptocurrency, network conditions.
⚠️ Before depositing, check the operator’s withdrawal policy, including processing times, limits, fees and any identity checks. A fast deposit does not necessarily mean a fast withdrawal.
Crypto payments
Some esports betting sites will accept cryptocurrency, but using crypto does not remove local gambling restrictions or guarantee anonymity, security or faster payouts. Network fees and transaction times vary, and the value of cryptocurrencies can fluctuate.
Stablecoins such as USDT are designed to track a reference currency, usually the US dollar, but their value is not guaranteed to remain exactly at that level.
⚠️ Check which assets and networks the operator supports before transferring funds.
| Cryptocurrency | Key Features |
|---|---|
| Bitcoin (BTC) | Widely accepted and ideal for larger bets |
| Ethereum (ETH) | Fast block times (around 15 seconds) with added smart contract security |
| Tether (USDT) | Pegged to the dollar; transaction fees under $1 on Tron or BSC |
| Litecoin (LTC) | Quick confirmations (2.5 minutes) and ultra-low fees |
| Ripple (XRP) | Lightning-fast transfers (3–5 seconds) with tiny fees (as low as $0.0002) |
| Dogecoin (DOGE) | Simple, fast (1-minute blocks), and a hit with new users |
| TRON (TRX) | Near-instant processing with little to no fees—great for frequent, low-stakes bets |
| Bitcoin Cash (BCH) | Cheaper and faster than BTC, perfect for mid-sized bankrolls and regular play |
