Our Betting Platform Review Methodology

How do we decide whether a betting platform is worth recommending? We look at how it works, what it offers, and how it treats its users.

Whenever possible, we sign up, make a deposit, and test the platform ourselves. We also check how withdrawals work when we can. This helps us understand what users can expect, rather than relying only on what the platform says about itself.

We use the same main criteria for every review, so readers can compare platforms more easily. Here’s what we look at:

• Licensing and Safety – We check whether the platform has the right licence to operate. We also look at how it protects users and their information. This helps us understand whether the platform meets important safety requirements.
• Betting Options and Odds – We look at what users can bet on and how many options are available. We also compare the odds to see how competitive they are.
• Bonuses and Promotions – We check what bonuses and special offers are available. We also read the rules to understand what users need to do to claim them and whether there are any important restrictions.
• User Experience – We look at how easy the website is to use. Can users find what they need, place bets, and manage their accounts without difficulty?
• Mobile Experience – We check whether the platform has a mobile app or a website that works well on phones. We want to see whether users can access the main features easily on a smaller screen.
• Deposits and Withdrawals – We check how users can add money to their accounts and withdraw it. We also look at fees, limits, and how long transactions take. Where possible, we test these processes ourselves.
• Customer Support – We check how users can contact customer support and how quickly they receive a reply. We also consider whether the answers are helpful.
• Loyalty Rewards – We look at whether the platform rewards returning users through VIP programmes, special offers, or other benefits. We also check the rules to see how useful these rewards really are.
• Responsible Gambling – We check whether users can set limits on their spending, take a break, or exclude themselves from gambling. We also look at whether information about safer gambling is easy to find.
• Player Reviews and Community Feedback – Our brand review pages include a comment section where players can share their experiences with a betting platform. These comments give readers another point of view and may highlight things we haven’t covered in our own review, such as problems with withdrawals or experiences with customer support. By reading both our assessment and other players’ feedback, readers can get a broader picture of the platform and make better-informed decisions. However, every player’s experience is different, so comments should be considered alongside information we can verify.

Why Do We Use These Criteria?

Every betting platform has different features, benefits, and drawbacks. By checking the same things across our reviews, we can explain what each platform does well and where it could improve.

We combine our own research and testing with feedback from players to give readers a clearer picture of what to expect. We also review our content when important details change, such as a platform’s licence, payment options, or terms and conditions.

Our goal is to help readers understand their options and make informed decisions based on clear, useful information.

Other Platforms We Review

Beyond traditional betting platforms, we also cover other types of gaming and prediction services. These include prediction markets, social sportsbooks, social casinos, and crypto casinos.

Each category works differently, so we assess these platforms according to their specific features, payment models, terms, and applicable regulations. Visit our dedicated guides to learn more about how they work and what to consider before using them.

Prediction Markets Platforms

When we review prediction market platforms, we look at how easy it is to find markets, understand prices, and trade on the outcome of an event.

• Market Choice – Are there plenty of events to choose from, including esports matches and tournaments?
• Prices and Fees – Are prices easy to understand? Can users see the fees before making a trade?
• Trading Options – Can users buy and sell their positions before an event ends? Are prices updated quickly?
• Rules and Results – Does the platform explain how each market works and how the final result is decided?
• Safety and Availability – Is the platform properly registered or licensed where required, and can users access it legally in their location?

These checks help us see whether a platform is easy to understand, offers useful markets, and explains the risks clearly.

Social Sportsbooks

When we review social sportsbooks, we focus on the games, virtual coins, and rewards they offer. These platforms use different models, so we check exactly how each one works rather than assuming they all follow the same rules.

• Sports and Esports Coverage – Which sports, esports titles, and events can users choose from?
• Virtual Coins – Does the platform explain the difference between free-play coins and any promotional coins?
• Free Coins and Promotions – How can users earn coins? Are the offers easy to understand, and do they come with conditions?
• Prizes and Redemption – If prizes are available, what can users claim, and what rules or limits apply?
• Ease of Use – Is it easy to find events, use the coins, and understand how the platform works?
• Location and Rules – Where is the platform available, and are its eligibility requirements clearly explained?

These checks help us understand what users can do on the platform, what rewards may be available, and what restrictions they should know about before signing up.

Social Casinos

When we review social casinos, we look at the games users can play, how the virtual coins work, and how enjoyable and easy the platform is to use. We also check whether the platform offers a sweepstakes model with additional rules for earning or redeeming promotional currency.

• Game Selection – Are there plenty of games to choose from, such as slots, blackjack, roulette, or poker?
• Free Play – How many free coins do users receive, and can they earn more without making a purchase?
• Virtual Currency Rules – Are the coins clearly explained? Can they only be used to play games, or can certain promotional coins be redeemed for prizes?
• Rewards and Promotions – Are there daily bonuses, special events, or other rewards? Are the conditions easy to understand?
• Mobile Experience – Can users play comfortably on a phone as well as on a computer?
• Player Support and Safety – Can users easily find help and access tools to manage their play or purchases?

These checks help us compare the games, rewards, and overall experience each social casino offers. We also make sure readers can understand whether the coins are for play only or whether any promotional currency can be redeemed for prizes.

Crypto Casinos

When we review crypto casinos, we look at more than just the games on offer. We also check how easy it is to use cryptocurrency, how payments work, and what the platform does to help users understand the risks.

• Cryptocurrency Options – Which cryptocurrencies can users deposit and withdraw? Are the supported coins and networks clearly listed?
• Deposits and Withdrawals – Is it easy to add and withdraw funds? We check transaction fees, minimum limits, processing times, and any extra conditions. We also look at whether users need to pay network fees.
• Game Selection – Does the platform offer a good choice of games, such as slots, table games, live casino games, or original games? We also check whether esports or traditional sports betting is available.
• Provably Fair Games – Does the platform offer games that let users check how results are generated? We look at whether the rules and verification tools are clearly explained and whether results can be checked independently.
• Bonuses and Promotions – Are bonuses available for new and existing users? We read the terms to check wagering requirements, eligible coins, withdrawal limits, and other restrictions.
• Licensing and Security – Is the operator licensed where required? We also look at account security, identity checks, and how the platform explains its rules and restrictions.
• Crypto Risks – Does the platform explain that cryptocurrency prices can change quickly? The value of a user’s funds may go up or down even when they are not playing.
• Player Support – Can users get help with deposits, withdrawals, or missing transactions? We check which support channels are available and how easy they are to use.

These checks help us understand how each crypto casino handles payments, games, and user protection. We also look at whether the platform explains its fees, rules, and risks clearly, so readers can make a more informed decision.

Read our Reviews Before You Start

Not sure which betting platform to choose? Start by reading our Stake.com review. It explains the platform, its main features, bonuses, and what you should know before signing up.

If you’re in the US, you can also read our Stake.us review. Stake.us works differently from Stake.com, using virtual coins and a sweepstakes model rather than traditional real-money betting.

A quick note about bonuses: Offers can change, and some are only available in certain countries or regions. We do our best to keep our bonus information up to date, and our banners are intended to show relevant offers. However, always check the offer’s terms and make sure you’re eligible before claiming it.

Editor’s Final Thoughts: We Test Platforms for Ourselves

By: Luke Warr

When we review a betting platform, we don’t just read about it on other websites. We try it ourselves whenever possible, just like a regular user would.

I’ve even got a whole folder in my Gmail for casino and sportsbook sign-up emails, plus another one for bonus offers. There are 1,087 unread emails in there! I’ll get around to sorting them out one day.

Of course, I also use the review criteria listed above and look at what other players are saying. But I don’t just copy what other websites say and put it in different words. I want to check the facts for myself.

Why does this matter? Because if one website gets something wrong and others keep repeating it, people can end up believing something that isn’t true. That’s why we check details wherever we can instead of simply taking someone else’s word for it.

Our goal is to give you clear, honest, and up-to-date information so you know what to expect before choosing a platform.

If you spot something in one of our reviews that is out of date or doesn’t look right, please let us know. Send our team a message explaining what’s wrong, and we’ll check it out.
