The top two teams of the regular season meet in the upper final of the LPL Split 3 playoffs. AL vs BLG will take place on September 7 at 11am CEST / 5am EST. So far, Bilibili Gaming has only lost a single playoff match all year long. In the upper final, BLG is the favorite as they look to win their third LPL title in 2026.

Why the market favors Bilibili Gaming

Bilibili Gaming has been the best team in the LPL all of 2026, and they’re in the conversation for being the best team in the world. BLG’s game score in playoffs this year is 31-10. Excluding their matches against Team WE, it becomes 24-4.

Bilibili Gaming’s playbook works in two steps. First, they use the fact that they’re individually better than their opponents. Second, they fight.

BLG is one of the teams whose games have the most kills, even by LPL standards. China’s champions up the ante of the games they play, which forces more mistakes. Then, they punish those better than their opponents would.

Bilibili Gaming keeps playing with a six-man roster, swapping their top laners based on the match. The last time they faced Anyone’s Legend, they fielded their former top laner Li “Flandre” Xuan-Jun. Flandre got the better of his former teammates and won the grudge match to conclude the Split 3 regular season.

While this one match was close and went Bilibili Gaming’s way in three long games, AL hasn’t looked promising in the LPL this year. In Split 3, they finished second in the regular season but had a score of 9-5, putting them too close to the middle of the pack. Moreover, their loss against WE showed exactly why people don’t trust them. Without Flandre, they no longer know how to navigate the later game.

Additionally, Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin was a core carry of BLG before benching himself, regularly known as the best top laner in the world. While they also field Flandre as he has different strengths, BLG started Bin in their last playoff matches and he remains the carry the community knows him as.

Users on the League of Legends subreddit commented that the last AL vs BLG series shouldn’t have been as close as it turned out. At the end of the day, Bilibili Gaming will play with more focus in the playoffs.

BLG is the only team in the league that doesn’t look shaky and their results reflect it. Any team that comes even close to defeating them is pulling off an upset, and AL is no exception.

By default, BLG manages to get ahead and to convert that lead into a convincing win. While their weaker teamfights still come back to bite them, their opponents don’t seem to have what it takes to punish them. Then even if a game turns close, they have a clutch factor that AL lacks.
