As the Battlefield 6 beta comes to an end, its players think it’s going to be great

The Battlefield 6 beta has concluded and while many are sad to see it go, players and streamers alike are coming away from it eagerly anticipating the game’s full release.

Battlefield is a series that has a long but decidedly mixed history. The series got off to an acclaimed start with Battlefield 1942, and while titles like Battlefield 2 and 3 were legitimate game of the year candidates in their time, many others received a lukewarm or even negative reception. The series is coming off two of those less-acclaimed games, with Battlefield 5 being regarded as one of the weaker entries in the series while Battlefield 2042 is simply regarded as an outright bad game.

Because of this, Battlefield 6 might just have the future of the franchise riding on its back. And judging from the response to the beta, the franchise is in good hands once again.

Could Battlefield 6 be good?

The Battlefield 6 beta received a strongly positive reception from its players, giving fans of the series every expectation that the full version of the game will indeed be good, if not great.

Many were uncertain what they were in for when the Battlefield 6 beta first launched. The last numbered entry in the series, Battlefield 5, received generally mixed reviews. More recently, Battlefield 2024 received an altogether negative reaction and is regarded by many as the series’ worst game.

Early impressions from the Battlefield 6 beta as we reach its end is that the game will be a major return to form. Popular stream and noted former Counter-Strike pro Michael “shroud” Grzesiek compared and contrasted recent entries in the series, and heaped praise on the beta.

“[If you] try to play Battlefield 2042 now, you’re going to appreciate the Battlefield 6 beta a lot,” shroud said on Twitch. “There’s a very big difference between these two games.”

shroud isn’t alone in that appraisal, and he wasn’t even the only Counter-Strike personality to heap praise on the game. YouTuber and mythbuster WarOwl, discussed the game on Twitter and effectively said that it’s too good to be true:

The total number of other streamers who enjoyed the beta is too long to list, with names ranging from Tim “TimTheTatman” Betar to top Vtuber Zentreya all playing the beta and just about universally enjoying their time in the increasingly anticipated game.

Battlefield 6 is likely to enjoy a massive release later this year after the end of its beta period has left fans eagerly anticipating the full game’s arrival. The game boasted incredible player counts on Steam, with the beta peaking at more than 521,000 concurrent players per SteamDB. That tally was one of the biggest player counts seen in the month of August to this point, with only popular titles Counter-Strike, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and Dota 2 being able to hit any higher peaks. It also excludes all console players, meaning the actual number of players swarming into the Battlefield 6 beta was likely significantly higher than the already-impressive half-million player figure.

These numbers add up to Battlefield 6 likely being one of the biggest video game releases of the 2025 holiday season. Battlefield 6’s full release date is set October 10, 2025, so expect a significant amount of buzz surrounding the game in the coming weeks as players gear up for it and eager anticipation continues to build.
