Introducing the LoL Worlds 2024

Each year, the Worlds event is held in a different region of the world. In 2024, the Worlds event will be held in three countries. The play-in stage will be held in Berlin, Germany. The Swiss Stage, quarterfinals, and semi-finals will be played in Paris, France. Then, the grand final will be in London, UK.

The prize pool this year is $2,250,000, the same as last year. The event winner will receive a staggering $445,000. This is an incredible financial opportunity for many of these teams, with the prize pool being a good split between the last-placed teams.

LoL Worlds 2024: The Teams

Before you look to do any League of Legends betting, you must get to know the participating teams. It is essential to understand the context of the teams. This includes region and seed placement. The region a team is from can help you determine their general quality, as some regions have a higher level than others. Also, where a team is seeded from that region can tell you how they performed domestically in that region. Let’s take a look at the teams.

LCK (Korea)

Starting with the LCK it is often perceived to be the top region in the world. Many previous Worlds winning teams are from this region.

One surprise when looking at this is seeing T1 as the fourth seed. They underwhelmed domestically and narrowly made it to the event. Despite this, they are still one of the outside favourites to win the event with current odds of 11/2 on GG.Bet. The outright favourite to win the event is GEN, with current odds of 43/20. (Odds subject to change).

  1. Hanwha Life Esports (HLE)
  2. Gen.G (GEN)
  3. Dplus KIA (DK)
  4. T1 (T1)

LPL (China)

Next up is the LPL, often called the closest competition for the LCK teams. These two regions are usually in the finals of any international event.

If you watched Worlds 2023, you will remember WBG vs. T1 in the final. This year, WBG is only the fourth seed team from the LPL, and they are the least favoured team in the region to win based on odds provided by GG.Bet. The most likely is BLG. With odds of 13/5 at GG.Bet, they are second favourites to win the event. (Odds subject to change)

  1. Bilibili Gaming DreamSmart (BLG)
  2. TOP Esports (TES)
  3. LNG Ninebot Esports (LNG)
  4. WeiboGaming TapTap (WBG)

LEC (Europe)

The LEC is the third-best region, often called ‘best of the rest’. This is because there is a clear skill gap between the Korean and Chinese regions.

However, the LEC can sometimes rival these Asian teams and cause them trouble. Returning to MSI earlier this year, G2 beat TOP and came close to winning a series over T1. G2 poses the LEC’s best chance of winning according to the odds on GG.Bet, coming in at 18/1. (Odds subject to change) They are not considered a favourite, but there is a slight chance of an upset.

  1. G2 Esports (G2)
  2. Fnatic (FNC)
  3. MAD Lions KOI (MAD)*

LCS (North America)

It is often the LEC vs the LCS in the arguments of the best from the West. Typically, the LEC outperforms the LCS, but that could be about to change.

In recent events such as MSI and the Esports World Cup, LCS teams have done relatively well in comparison. TL defeated FNC and sent them home at both events, and they played a fantastic series against T1. A win is unlikely, with FLY and TL sitting on 18/1 odds on GG.Bet (Odds subject to change). But they are sure to provide entertainment and could go further than we might initially think.

  1. FlyQuest (FLY)
  2. Team Liquid Honda (TL)
  3. 100 Thieves (100)

PCS (Asia Pacific)

We have the first region where all teams start at the play-ins stage. The PCS is not a region that sends teams straight to the Swiss stage, meaning both PSG and SHG will be at play-ins. PSG have become a regular fixture at the Worlds event, qualifying in 2020, 2021 and 2023. They are the most successful team from the PCS and offer their best chance of success. They are the heavy favourites to win their first play-in match against PNG. As for SHG, they are slight favourites to win their first game against GAM. The PCS teams have a good chance of advancing this year and might be able to cause surprises along the way.

  1. PSG Talon (PSG)
  2. Fukuoka Softbank Hawks Gaming (SHG)

VCS (Vietnam)

GAM is another team we are used to seeing representing the VCS in the Worlds event. Once again, both teams from this region will be going through play-ins before the Swiss stage. Neither team is the favourite to win their first games, so it looks like a challenging year for the VCS teams. But as we saw at MSI, GAM is capable of a surprise, and they can overcome the odds on the right day.

  1. GAM Esports (GAM)
  2. Vikings Esports (VKE)

CBLOL (Brazil)

As usual, we only have one team from the CBLOL. Typically, we see LOUD qualifying for the worlds from the CBLOL. This is the first time PNG has qualified since 2015. They are underdogs to win their first game, starting in the play-ins stage.

  1. paiN Gaming (PNG)

LLA (Latin America)
  1. Movistar R7 (R7)

Another regular representative at the Worlds event is R7. They often qualify but struggle to advance past the play-ins stage. It is not the game they would have hoped for up against LCS third seed 100T in their first game.

LoL Worlds: Schedule & Format Explained

Here is some essential information to do any League of Legends Worlds betting. The schedule is as follows:

StageDates
Play-In StageSept. 25-29
Swiss StageOct. 3-7; Oct. 10-13
QuarterfinalsOct. 17-20
Semi-finalsOct. 26-27
FinalNov. 2

Understanding each stage and how they work is also a must when it comes to esports betting in general. This gives you a better chance regarding League of Legends betting.

  • Play-In Stage—The play-in stage kicks off the Worlds tournament. It consists of eight teams battling it out for four spots that advance to the Swiss Stage. It is a double-elimination format, with games being Bo3 (Best of).
  • Swiss Stage—The Swiss stage can be challenging to understand. It consists of sixteen teams, and the games are drawn as the stage goes on. So if you win game one, you will play another team that also won game one in the next game. Essentially, every team will always be playing a team with the same record as them. Reach three wins, and the team advances, but three defeats eliminate the team. Initial rounds are Bo1, but if advancement or elimination is on the line, it becomes a Bo3.
  • Knockout Stages—This covers the quarterfinals, semi-finals, and finals. Each match is a single-elimination Bo5 series.

How To Bet On League Of Legends Worlds Event

The first step to being able to start betting is finding suitable betting sites. You will then have to create an account with that site and, from there, deposit to begin.

Step One: Create an account (our recommendation is GG.bet). To do this, go to the betting site and select an option like ‘Join now.’

Step Two: To create your account, you must enter a few personal details. This will include verifying your email and typically using a valid form of ID to confirm your identity.

Step Three: The final step is to decide how much money you wish to deposit into your account. Many sites also offer new customer rewards with free bets. Once you complete this final step, you will be ready to start.

What Makes A Suitable LOL Worlds Betting Site?

First and foremost, before you do any League of Legends Worlds betting, you must ensure you have a suitable betting site. There are a few key aspects to look at, and we will discuss some of them here and provide our recommended sites for League of Legends betting.

  • To start, you should check if the site is reputable. Does the site have a good reputation in the community and with past customers? This can be easy to discover through customer reviews. If reviews and people’s past experiences are negative, then it is best to avoid any site like that. A great example of a reputable site is Bet365. As an online bookmaker, it is well-established and has a solid customer base. It is also great for esports titles and offers League of Legends betting markets.
  • Next, you should consider the markets on offer. Does this site offer all the esports markets you might need? If so, this could be a site to use regularly for esports betting. In this instance, you need the bookmaker to offer League of Legends betting markets. One site that offers a wide variety of esports markets is the betting site Rivalry. It specialises in esports, meaning it always has plenty of esports betting opportunities.
  • Following that would be looking at the odds. Placing any bet is a game of risk. Nothing is guaranteed or in your control. That is why you want to ensure you have the most competitive odds when you win, giving you the best returns. Using an odds comparison site to point in the right direction can be easy to find. A site we find always to have competitive odds is GG.Bet. It is a reliable and competitive site that offers great League of Legends Worlds markets and odds.
  • The final point we will discuss is promotions. If you are new to betting, welcome promotions are a perfect opportunity to take advantage of them. These are where sites give you bonuses, typically free bets or deposit bonuses, to sign up to their site. They are great to take advantage of as they allow you to place risk-free bets where any returns are pure profit. Looking past welcome promotions to see which sites offer promotions to existing customers is essential. Thunderpick is a great betting site that provides promotions for existing customers.

Our Recommendations

At ESB, we only recommend sites with the best customer experience. This means factoring in the aspects above and many others. The list above is a small example of aspects to look at. As you start using betting sites, you may find other factors that are more important to you. Below is a list of sites we suggest checking out for League of Legends Worlds betting:

  • GG.Bet
  • Rivalry
  • Bet365
  • 1xBet
  • Thunderpick
  • BC.Game
  • RooBet
  • Stake.com
