BLG goes 5-0 in the LPL despite replacing their star top laner Bin

At the start of the split, Bilibili Gaming’s star top laner Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin benched himself, unhappy with his performance. In his place, Yang “Wenbo” Wen-Bo moved up from the academy roster.

Considering Bin’s impact on top lane, everybody started wondering if that would mark the end of Bilibili Gaming’s reign as the potential best team in the world. Instead, the team remains undefeated after five matches.

Wenbo, BLG’s unexpected new top laner

As poetic as it would be, Wenbo has had a relatively quiet time in the LPL. A few carry games, a few bad games, and a majority of where he simply held down the fort.

That is exactly what Bilibili Gaming needed. BLG has carries everywhere, and most importantly, Zhuo “Knight” Ding continues to have the best year of his life. With several more montage plays added to his collection while the second week of the split isn’t even over, Knight is decisively the current best mid laner in the world.

Every game, viewers ask why the opposing team didn’t ban Knight’s champion. Naturally, this question comes with every champion, as the brilliance stems from the hands piloting them.

BLG’s almost-golden road

Starting 2026, while strong, BLG was expected to lose to Gen.G like every other team in the world. Then, the G2 Esports incident happened, and they wound up facing the LEC representative in the grand final instead. BLG made quick work of them and claimed their first-ever international victory.

Judging by their strength in the LPL Split 2 and the absence of Gen.G again, it looked like BLG would repeat this feat at the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational. Bilibili Gaming was the next candidate for a potential golden road.

Then, at the final hour, Hanwha Life Esports won their rematch against the LPL first seed and took the MSI title in their stead. After a disappointing showing at the Esports World Cup to follow, Bin benched himself for performance reasons. Thus, the team that could win Worlds was already collapsing.

As it turns out, they’re not. With Wenbo replacing Bin, BLG is still poised to smash the LPL and be a serious contender for the Summoner’s Cup.
