CoD Mobile player who murdered fellow gamer sentenced to 14 years in prison

An 18-year-old CoD Mobile player, Guilherme Alves Costa, who murdered fellow gamer Ingrid Oliveira Bueno da Silva, also known as Sol, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison by a Brazilian court.

The gruesome incident took place on Feb. 22, 2021, in Sao Paulo, about a month after both players met in CoD Mobile. Guilherme had reportedly used a sword and a knife to commit the murder. He also posted about it on social media later.

Sol used to play CoD Mobile professionally for the FBI Esports Team’s female lineup.

According to a report, Guilherme never revealed the exact motive behind killing Sol, who was aged 19 at the time.

A private psychiatrist hired by Guilherme’s defense claimed that the defendant suffers from an antisocial personality disorder and persistent delusional disorder.

The defense also stated that Guilherme has no recollection of the event due to his psychological conditions.

It further added that they will be appealing the judge’s decision. If Guilherme is found to suffer from these conditions, he would escape a prison sentence and would instead be shifted to a hospital.
