CoDM World Championship Finals 2022 to take place as a LAN for the first time

The CoD Mobile World Championship Finals 2022 will finally take place as a LAN event. Activision has confirmed that the competition will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina from Dec. 15 to 18. 

The World Championship Finals will feature a prize pool of $1.7 million with 16 teams from around the world competing for the title of world champions.

So far, 14 teams in the event have been confirmed. Only the two Chinese spots are up for grabs which will be decided next month. The qualified teams for the CoD Mobile World Championship Finals are as follows:

CoD: Mobile World Championship Finals to take place alongside the CDL 2023 Major 1 

The World Championship Finals 2022 won’t be the only esports tournament taking place in Raleigh on those dates.

Activision will also be hosting the CDL 2023 Major 1 at the same venue. The company had recently announced that the next season of the CDL will begin around a month earlier this year in December itself.

Besides this, the Call of Duty Endowment Bowl will also happen alongside the CDL Major and the CoD Mobile World Championship Finals. Military esports teams from the U.S. and the UK will compete to become the champions. 

First LAN World Championship finals since the CODM’s release

Call of Duty: Mobile was released in September 2019, and Activision announced an esports tournament for it in 2020. 

After running numerous regional leagues around the world, the 2020 World Championship Finals had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Disaster struck again in 2021, as that year’s World Championship Finals were also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

This time, though, Activision decided not to cancel the event in its entirety. The developer instead held it online and split it into the Eastern and Western regions to decrease ping disparity between teams from around the world. 

Blacklist Ultimate was crowned the Eastern champion while Tribe Gaming got the crown of the Western champion.
