StarLadder has announced a tier-one CS2 tournament called StarSeries 20, which will run from September 16th to 20th in 2026.

The location is still unnamed at the moment, as StarLadder only mentioned it will take place in the Schengen zone, which is a “system of open borders that encompasses 29 European countries that have abolished border controls at their common borders,” according to Wikipedia.

StarSeries 20 will feature eight teams, with StarLadder inviting four based on the Global Valve Regional Standings (VRS) from July 8, 2026. The other four teams will come from closed qualifiers in Europe, North America, and South America.

The European closed qualifier will see two teams qualifying for StarSeries 20, while the other regions will have only one representative. StarLadder will determine which teams receive closed qualifier invites using each region’s respective VRS.

Besides StarSeries 20, StarLadder also announced that StarSeries Spring 2026 has been canceled because of a scheduling clash with the IEM Cologne 2026 Major. Additionally, StarLadder will host a tier-one event in 2027, from October 20th to 24th. The tournament organizer is also planning to host a “series of tier-two events” throughout 2026, and promised to post more updates soon.

StarLadder’s announcement follows a post from Silviu Stroie, CEO of fellow CS2 tournament organizer PGL, on November 12th.

Stroie wrote via a X post that “several CS2 tier-one events” wouldn’t occur, as a result of organizers missing the deadline to announce additional details, as per the guidelines set in Valve’s Tournament Operations Rulebook (TOR).

StarSeries 20 2026 details

Here’s everything that StarLadder said in the announcement of StarSeries 20.

Format

StarSeries 20 will use the same formula that StarLadder used for StarSeries Fall 2025, also known as StarSeries 19. The tournament will take place from September 16 to 20 in 2026.

There will be no group stage, as the event starts with a double-elimination format playoffs. All matches will be best-of-threes, including the grand finals.

By featuring some of the best CS2 teams in the world, StarSeries 20 will be an excellent tournament for CS2 betting.

Prize pool

StarSeries 20 will offer a $500,000 prize pool for the CS2 teams that attend it. Here’s a full breakdown of the prize pool:

PlacingPrize earned (players + organization)
1st$200,000
2nd$130,000
3rd$70,000
4th$40,000
5th-6th$20,000 (each)

Tournament Operations & Integrity

These are the “essential details” that every CS2 team attending StarSeries 20 should know in advance:

  • Visa region: Schengen. Teams are responsible for securing travel documents and visas. If a team cannot obtain required travel documents or visas within the set deadline, their invite will be revoked.
  • Banned players: Players banned by Valve or ESIC are ineligible; any team with a banned player discovered during the event will be disqualified immediately.
  • Conduct: StarLadder retains the right to deny or revoke invitations in cases of match-fixing or proven unsportsmanlike conduct, applied according to transparent, objective criteria.
  • Closed vs LAN stages: EU / NA / SA Closed Qualifiers are online; the Main Event is LAN.
