The Binding of Isaac’s Isaac may be riding the battle bus in Fortnite very soon for what would be one of the battle royale’s most perplexing collabs.

Fortnite’s collaborations seem to get wackier each year. In 2023, Fortnite had unlikely collaborations with Family Guy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jujutsu Kaisen, and even Eminem. It’s reached a point where it feels like every piece of media is bound to have a Fortnite crossover at some point.

Even so, a possible upcoming crossover is a tough one to imagine. Most of the crossovers face the issue of reimagining these characters in a third-person battle royale shooter but The Binding of Isaac, a top-down 2D roguelike shooter, offers a hefty challenge for Epic Games.

The Binding of Isaac creator teases Fortnite collab

The Binding of Isaac creator Edmund McMillen reveals he is in talks with Epic Games about a possible Fortnite crossover.

When asked on social media about the possibility of a Fortnite collab, the designer behind The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy simply stated: “Yes, we have talked” flanked by a smiling emoji. The casualness of the post could signify that collab talks are going well.

This isn’t the first time Fortnite has had a collab with a major indie release. In 2022, Fortnite released the Among Us Bundle. This didn’t include character skins, but instead had a unique Crewmate back bling and the Distraction Dance emote. The Binding of Isaac’s similarly cutesy art style may yield a crossover of this nature but with character models getting progressively more diverse, it wouldn’t be shocking to see an Isaac character skin.

It’s worth noting that McMillen initially got into contact with Epic Games in December 2023.  Fans asked McMillen if he had ever considered a Fortnite collab for his games, including The Binding of Isaac. He asked how to contact Fortnite’s team and a fan tagged Fortnite’s official Twitter account. Soon after, he confirmed contact with Epic Games and fans are excited for the franchise’s future.

Will The Binding of Isaac have a sequel?

McMillen has confirmed The Binding of Isaac 2 “will happen” but “not anytime soon.”

His current focus is on his upcoming game Mewgenics, which means The Binding of Isaac sequel is on the back burner. The indie creator’s last project was a complete reimagining of the first The Binding of Isaac subtitled “Repentance.” Fans of the traumatized young Isaac will wait a while before seeing him again.
