Why the market favors Karmine Corp
The obvious answer is that KC already won that exact same match two days ago. Karmine Corp went against MVK Esports in round 2 of the Play-in Stage, and the result was a staggering 3-0 in their favor. Can we expect anything different from a runback?
Likely not. MVK showed up strong against FURIA in the loser’s bracket. However, so did they in round 1, and KC still beat them while they were in this form.
Next comes the question of the consistency for KC. Martin “Yike” Sundelin had a better series than he did against C9, though he wasn’t at his peak. Kim “Canna” Chang-dong was far above Ngô “Kratos” Đức Khánh, and the other KC players were decently above their counterparts.
This means that there’s a possibility for Karmine’s mid or bot to have a bad day and cause a vulnerability. On the other hand, top lane seems too decidedly in their favor.
The real problem comes from the macro aspect. MVK has been winning their games through their mechanics. Against KC, this has already been their first hurdle as the LEC representative is stronger on that front to begin with. At the same time, Karmine was also passively gaining advantages.
By just playing the map better, KC is able to get advantages that MVK doesn’t have access to. This results in muzzling MVK’s splitpushers and in making their teamfights harder. In game 3 of the last match, the LCP’s third seed even let Kang “kyeahoo” Ye-hoo splitpush for a solid minute until he eventually took their Nexus and the series. This does not look like an issue that MVK will be able to fix in just two days.

What traders are saying
Reddit users and Facebook users alike expect KC to cleanly take this match once more. Some of them are just hoping that MVK can at least make it a bit more competitive this time, as they still expect another 3-0. However, a couple of Polymarket traders are claiming that it is in fact MVK who should be favored.
Our prediction
Prediction: Karmine Corp to win
At this point, there’s little reason to believe that they won’t repeat their feat. Sometimes, rematches don’t go the same way, and Karmine Corp knows that better than most. Still, KC’s baseline level is just too high for MVK’s. We predict KC to win the series once again.
