Grand final: MVU vs DSG, MX

The League of Legends Championship Series Promotion Tournament is a yearly tournament starting after the LCS has concluded. The LCS features seven franchised teams and one guest team. Each year, the guest has to fight for their spot as four other teams have a chance to grab it. After a double elimination bracket, only one of these five will be promoted into North America’s tier 1 league, and the other four return to tier 2.

In the grand final, Maryville University’s roster goes up against Disguised, the incumbent guest. Disguised has held onto this spot since the team’s creation in 2025. Yet Maryville University crushed them in the upper bracket. MU has made short work of their other opponents too, with a cumulative game score of 9-2.

DSG has also played better again since their crushing defeat, beating both of their opponents 3-0. With two years of experience playing in the LCS, it’s hard to imagine them losing, especially in the offline match. Yet Maryville has already done it once, and it was the first ever win by a collegiate team against a tier 1 opponent in an official tournament.
