Stardock Entertainment, creators of the Galactic Civilizations and Sins of a Solar Empire game series, has revived one of its classic titles, Elemental: Reforged, with a new remaster.

Stardock, creators of some of the most beloved 4X games (Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate), unveiled Elemental: Reforged today (Oct. 24) by release, launching the revived title into Early Access on Steam.

Elemental, Stardock’s 4X fantasy game, returns with Elemental: Reforged

“Elemental: Reforged is the culmination of the vision we had for this series since we started work on it over 15 years ago,” said Bradley Wardell, CEO of Stardock and lead designer on the project. “The design was ahead of its time, but limited by PC hardware of the late 2000s. Now, with a 64-bit engine and modern graphics, Reforged finally delivers what we always hoped the original could be.”

Reportedly rebuilt on a new DirectX 11 engine, Elemental: Reforged merges features from all three previous Elemental games, War of Magic, Fallen Enchantress, and Sorcerer King, into a single unified experience.

What makes the 4X experience in Elemental unique is the ability for players to craft their own leaders and factions, manage dynasties, and shape vast fantasy kingdoms. This all happens in unique procedurally generated worlds rich with quests, evolving environments, and dynamic magic systems.

According to Wardell, each previous installment had standout features that couldn’t coexist at the time: dynastic family trees from War of Magic, the detailed combat and stats of Fallen Enchantress, and the crafting and questing systems from Sorcerer King. Now, Elemental: Reforged combines them all, enhanced by a modern UI and full modding support through Steam Workshop.

The Early Access release aims to gather community feedback as development continues. “We wanted to get players into the game as soon as possible,” Wardell said. “Our goal is to make Reforged the game our fans have always wanted to play.”
