The LCK’s most popular matchup returns once more this week, as T1 faces Gen.G for the sixth time in 2026. Oddly, T1 is currently up 3-2 this year. As only three matches are left for them before the playoffs, which of these two teams will get one step closer to securing a top-two spot?

T1 vs Gen.G match analysis

When the two teams met at the 2026 Esports World Cup, T1 won the game with ADCs in the bot lane. On the other hand, Gen.G came out on top in the two rounds where they played mages bot.

Then in the LCK, T1 banned Camille in both games. In the first game, they convincingly took the win. In the second one, Gen.G still got their hands on Ziggs-Shen for their duo lane, and they actually dictated the pace of the game until T1 won a single fight and took the series on the spot.

Identifying that strategy is a good angle, and they could theoretically do the same thing again. First, they can rerun the Camille ban, then they get three choices for Shen. Pick it away as a bot/top flex pick, spend a second ban on him, or let him through once and see how it lands.

There are three problems with this, though. For starters, T1 is unpredictable in drafts, and not always in a good direction. Then, Gen.G will have adapted their strategy as well since the last match.

Finally, T1’s erratic form will haunt them again. Where they managed to remain patient throughout an entire losing game to find the one winning fight, there’s no guarantee that they’ll figure out how to do that again. T1 being patient is not a common occurrence.

On the other hand, Gen.G showed in week 2 that their confident, efficient decision-making was back. This means T1 have to achieve the same rare feat for them against a team that will give them fewer opportunities this time.
