Team Secret Whales qualifies for LoL Worlds 2.5 months early

For some regions, the Summer Split has just begun. In the LCP, though, Team Secret Whales has already qualified for the 2026 LoL World Championship. Worlds will only begin on October 15, but TSW’s domestic excellence throughout the year has booked them a ticket two and a half months ahead of time.

Team Secret Whales qualifies for the World Championship

Yesterday, TSW beat CTBC Flying Oyster in the LCP. In doing so, they finished the Swiss round 3-0 and ensured their participation in the Split 3 playoffs.

The LCP is a region that uses Championship Points. These are accumulated over the years based on performance for each split and play into Worlds qualification. Furthermore, unlike the other ones, they award the bulk of those points for regular season results rather than playoff placements.

With their Swiss round over, TSW scored a minimum of 136 Championship points. Deep Cross Gaming is in second place with only 61 points so far. By the end of the playoffs, they can reach a maximum of 101 points, far below the score needed to push TSW away. After them comes GAM Esports with only 39 current points.

The two finalists of the LCP Split 3 immediately qualify for Worlds. Afterwards, the third attendee is the non-qualified team with the most Championship Points. This guarantees that TSW has a spot at the World Championship no matter what happens in the playoffs.

Team Secret Whales dominates the LCP all year long

While it may seem absurd for a team to qualify so early into the split, it makes sense with the context. First, TSW is nearing the end of their split, with only one seeding match left to play and then the playoffs.

Second, the Whales have dominated the LCP all year long. Not to mention that they’re also the only Pacific team to beat a Chinese opponent in a Bo5.

• 6-1 in Split 1’s round robin, won the playoffs through the upper bracket.
• 7-0 in Split 2’s round robin, won the playoffs through the upper bracket.
• 3-0 in Split 3’s Swiss stage.

TSW is 22-1 in series over the year, 52-12 in games. For all their remaining matches, they’re an extremely safe team to bet on. Keep an eye out for their odds for the seeding match between August 14 and 16, then for the quarterfinals on August 20.
