The International 2026 group stage preview: Predictions, odds, and best picks

The International 2026 kicks off with the Group Stage, which will show us which teams advance to the Playoffs & the Elimination Round and which will be eliminated. Valve decided to take a slightly different approach this year, so we are about to learn everything there is to know about the groups. The International 2026 Overview

TI15 Group Stage Format

This year’s The International will use a Swiss-style format that works as follows:

• The teams will be ranked based on the number of matches won and lost and the percentage of games won.
• Valve will also consider the total number of matches won by opponents played, the average percentage of games won by opponents played and the average game duration (the shorter, the better). There can also be a Coin Toss if needed.
• The teams will be paired using the General Swiss Pairings Rules.
• Dota 2 teams with the same records will play against each other and the idea is to avoid repeat paritings when possible.

TI15’s Swiss stage will begin by splitting the teams into two groups. Between rounds 1 and 3, the teams will only face opponents from their own group. Once Round 4 begins, they will play teams from the other group. Round 5 will use special pairing rules for elimination matches, in which higher-ranked teams will face lower-ranked opponents.

Once the Swiss stage is over, the teams with a 3-2 record will choose an opponent with a 2-3 record. The best 3-2 team will pick first, giving higher-ranked teams more control over their elimination-round opponent.

Which Teams are worth betting on?

If you analyze all of the Dota 2 regions at TI15, you will see that European teams are the ones you should focus on. Our favorites consist of the following names:

• Team Yandex
• Team Falcons
• PARIVISION (Team Vision)
• BetBoom Team (BoomBoys)

The International 2026 Group Stage provides excellent Dota 2 betting opportunities across the board. There was a small tweak to the current patch recently, and as teams adjust to the changes, this may give you a competitive edge.

Pay close attention to the odds when analyzing the favorites and check all available markets. The big bookies offer more than just the final result because you can bet on the number of kills, last hits, Roshan kills and first blood, among others.

Which teams will head over to the TI15 playoffs?

The International 2026 Main Event will consist of 8 teams. Three of them will advance directly from the Group Stage, whereas the other 5 will earn their slot after the Elimination Round.

But which teams have the biggest chances of succeeding? Well, a quick look at the best TI15 players will show you a few clubs that stand out:

• PARIVISION is the big favorite for TI15 after winning the Esports World Cup 2026 a few weeks ago.
• Team Falcons are the reigning champions and will be looking to defend their title.
• Team Yandex is a solid mix of players that has achieved great success in 2026.
• BetBoom Team will be looking to win the only big Dota 2 trophy that they’re missing

Outside of these teams, fans should also consider the likes of Team Liquid, Team Spirit and Xtreme Gaming. Spirit looks like the biggest favorite outside of the names mentioned so far. They have solid experience and two TIs under their belts, but 2026 has not been their best year, so keep that in mind.

As for XG, they are the only team that can reclaim the Aegis after a 10-year drought, but it won’t be easy.
