Top four LCK teams all finish 1-1 against each other as T1 beats KT Rolster

As the race for top two intensifies at the end of the LCK Rounds 1-2, T1 just beat KT Rolster in a 2-0 series. Following this match, T1 will likely tie Gen.G for second place. However, this result also means that the top four teams all finish 1-1 against each other. 

T1 beats KT Rolster 2-0 to bring them down to fourth place in the LCK Rounds 1-2

T1 faced KT as their penultimate match of the split. The first game was relatively one-sided, although Lee “PerfecT” Seung-min pulled massively ahead of Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon. The rest of T1 was able to pick up the slack, and they won in 29 minutes.

Game 2 started no differently, with PerfecT getting a gold lead of more than 2.5k over his lane opponent. In total, he got three solo kills through the series.

From that, KT was ahead for most of the series, even claiming a Mountain soul that T1 refused to contest. Somehow, T1 came back and Doran even reversed the gold lead in the top lane. After an Elder and a brilliant 4-man Seraphine flash-ult from Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, the World Champions closed out the series 2-0.

This match brings the Telecom wars to a score of 13-3 in T1’s favor since the beginning of 2024. KT now sits in fourth place at 12-5, behind both T1 and Gen.G at 13-4, with Hanwha Life Esports on top of the standings at 14-3.

The top four LCK teams are all tied against each other

The top four LCK teams each have one game left to play, against a bottom five opponent. Barring an upset, we should still see HLE in first and KT in fourth. As for T1 and Gen.G, they’re  fighting over second based on their next match’s game score.

However, where they stand in terms of actual power level is unclear. Following today’s result, each of these teams is now 1-1 against all of their top four opponents. Worse than a rock-paper-scissors situation like in the LEC, none of them has proven to be ahead of the others.

Beyond game results, Korea’s top four decided to all learn from KT’s legendary inconsistency. Many LCK series in Round 2 include one major throw, and sometimes two stomps with opposite outcomes.

KT Rolster started the split looking like the new Gen.G, before losing to HANJIN BRION. For what it’s worth though, no part of that is surprising coming from KT.

On the other hand, Gen.G has lost more regular season matches than any previous split since Spring 2023. T1 looks suspiciously good for a tournament not named Worlds, and HLE is quietly above everyone.

Unfortunately, we won’t see these teams properly battle it out to put this question to rest, due to the LCK not having real Spring playoffs. Road to MSI is a king-of-the-hill bracket, meaning that we’ll at most get three matches among these teams.
