Trainwreckstv banned on Twitch during Rust event, here’s why

Popular streamer Tyler “Trainwreckstv” Niknam was in the middle of his Rust event stream on Kick and Twitch when he suddenly got banned on the latter. Here’s why.

Trainwreckstv is known for his gaming streams, but a lot of his content revolves around gambling. For this reason, the streamer moved to Kick in 2023, a platform with more lenient rules for slot games. It later came out that he’s part owner of the platform. However, rather than leaving his 2 million followers on Twitch behind, he decided to multistream on both platforms.

It seems the two-way road isn’t working out for him anymore, judging by the reason behind his first ban in five years on Twitch. Before this, he was banned twice in 2018, but his slate has mostly stayed clean since then.

Why was Trainwreckstv banned on Twitch?

Trainwreckstv was banned in the middle of his Rust event for having a Kick link in his Twitch bio. According to Twitch, this is against terms of service, which led to his first ban in five years of streaming.

On November 8, Trainwreckstv unveiled his CS2-inspired AK-47 blue gem skin in Rust, which he created in collaboration with the game developer. The streamer was set to try out the skin live on his November 9 stream. However, he was banned mid-event.

According to a screenshot shared by Trainwreckstv, the ban was for “user spam,” with Twitch citing “redirecting viewers to another service” as one of the reasons. Trainwreckstv confirmed this on his Kick livestream.

According to the streamer, this could have been a warning since this is his first ban in five years. He said that he would have complied instantly if he’d received a warning since this wasn’t a reason big enough to ban him during an important stream.

“I’ve done nothing differently than the last 2 years. They ban me the day I was 2nd most viewed stream on the entire platform. It’s just so sad. I put so much effort into this event, into the drop, and into the entire team. They could’ve easily sent a warning imo,” said Trainwreckstv.

The streamer has asked fans to like and repost his X post, urging Twitch to issue warnings instead of direct bans. While bans are common on Twitch, Trainwreck was in the middle of an important Rust event, which may explain why he’s so frustrated with the platform’s approach.

Trainwreckstv will remain banned until November 12. Until then, fans can watch his streams on Kick where he’s still active and live.
