The new Treasure Trains feature on Twitch aims to help viewers gift subs for a cheaper price than usual, as long as they meet certain prerequisites that we’ll help you to understand.

The streaming scene has seen a major rise in recent years, and that’s largely thanks to the support streamers receive from fans and viewers. From Kick introducing Channel Points to reward viewers for supporting their favorite streamers, to Twitch’s bits and subscription system, successful streamers now a variety of different income streams based on their streaming activity.

Every streamer’s primary goal is to ensure their stream is more interactive and enjoyable for viewers, pushing them to support the channel to a greater extent. Subscriptions are the most common way viewers can support their favorite creators, but those can cost from $4.99 all the way to up to $25, depending on the tier. Twitch’s Treasure Trains can potentially lower this cost while letting viewers get new emotes and support their favorite streamers.

What are the new Twitch Treasure Trains?

Twitch’s Treasure Trains feature is an on-stream celebration that rewards viewers for participating by contributing to a hype meter.

Treasure Trains are part of Twitch’s Hype Train feature, which was announced through a blog on May 8, 2025. Through it, viewers can initiate a Hype Train event on the stream by contributing to the channel. Multiple viewers must perform actions including subscribing to the channel through the web or the Twitch mobile application, giving over 100 bits, or sharing a subscription renewal in chat within a 5-minute period to kick off the event.

Once a Hype Train is active, viewers will see a pop-up above the chat that details information like the event’s current level, its time remaining, and how much progress remains for the next level. While the regular Hype Train rewards viewers with emotes and badges for increasing the event’s level to promote participation, the Treasure Train is both new and different.

Golden Kappa Trains and Treasure Trains are special events that can appear instead of regular Hype Trains on any monetized streamer’s channel. The Golden Kappa train gives participants access to the Golden Kappa emote for 24 hours, while the Treasure Train gives viewers a discount that leads to cheaper subscriptions.

By getting the Treasure Train to level 5 through contributing subscriptions and bits, viewers can unlock a 35% discount when they purchase five or more Tier 1 single-month gift subscriptions. This time-limited offer is only applicable for the specified quantity and tier of subscriptions, and it isn’t stackable with other discounts. Additionally, streamers can disable Treasure Trains by opting out of discounted gift subscriptions from their dashboard, so not every streamer is guaranteed to have the feature enabled on their channel. But for those who do, this could be a great new opportunity to encourage additional channel subscriptions at a lower price point.
