Group Stage

The group stage of VCT Americas Stage 1 will take place from April 10 to May 10 with the 12 teams split into two groups of six. Here, they will play in a single round-robin format, where each match will be a best-of-three. The top four teams from each group will qualify for the playoff stage of the competition.

Based on the teams’ standings following the completion of the group stage, they will be seeded into various parts of the bracket.

  • First place: Bye to the upper bracket semi-finals.
  • Second and third place: Seeded to the first round of the upper bracket.
  • Fourth place: Seeded to the first round of the lower bracket.

In the new seeding structure, it is crucial for teams to finish in the top three places within their group. If they get seeded into the upper bracket, they can lose a match without the pressure of elimination.

On the other hand, teams that play directly in the lower bracket cannot afford to lose a single match, as that would result in elimination.

VCT Americas Stage 1 betting preview

If we take a look at the betting odds of the top teams, NRG are the favorites. The reigning VALORANT world champions are still one of the best teams in the world.

NRG Esports

VALORANT Masters Santiago NRG

During VALORANT Masters Santiago, they finished in third place. The main factor going in favor for them is their synergy and IGL, Ethan. If we take a look at Ethan’s assist conversion rate in the VCT Americas region, it is the highest at 65%.

Another factor working out for the team is their dominance on maps like Pearl and Breeze. In the VCT 2026 season, they are undefeated on both maps, forcing teams to veto either map.

One stat to keep in mind that could bite back at NRG is their win rate on pistol rounds. Currently, the team has a 45% win rate on pistol rounds, resulting in the team frequently being a round down from the get-go.

G2 Esports

The next team who are the favorites is G2 Esports. Similar to NRG, G2 Esports finished in the top-four during VALORANT Masters Santiago. The team was eliminated by Paper Rex in the lower bracket.

While the team had a rocky start to the VCT 2026, they have been one of the best teams in the VCT Americas region.

This season, the IGL of G2 Esports, Valyn, is the highest-rated IGL in the VCT Americas region. One player that has gone under the radar is Nathan Orf.

The primary flex for G2 Esports is that the team leads the VCT Americas region for trade-kill percentage. Another stat that fans must keep an eye out for is the retake win rate of the team.

This season, they average a 44% win rate, the highest by any team in the VCT Americas region. The only drawback for G2 is that they aren’t the best against faced-paced squads.

It feels funny calling this team the dark horse, as they are the first seed from VCT Americas in VALORANT Masters Santiago. Going into this tournament, it will be all about their endurance in the group stage.

The only two teams FURIA might have a tough time against are NRG and the new roster of Sentinels.
