Here’s why Twitch banned streamer Marlon for the first time

Twitch has banned up-and-coming streamer Marlon “Mar3lg” Lundgren Garcia from the streaming platform, but his viewers are claiming he didn’t violate any rules and that his suspension is unwarranted.

Marlon is a basketball player, model, and streamer who boasts over 1.2 million followers on TikTok. The content creator is also active on Twitch, where he has accumulated a decent fan following thanks to his JustChatting and IRL streams.

The Swedish streamer recently collaborated with FaZe Clan member Nick “Lacy” Fosco and Kick streamer Adin Ross, who was recently unbanned from Twitch. Marlon’s YouTube channel is filled with videos of his latest collaborations and the content is accumulating significant views, but not everything is going so well for the streamer as he was just banned on Twitch.

Why did Twitch ban Marlon?

Marlon apparently receive a ban from Twitch for collaborating with controversial streamer Nicolas “Sneako” Kenn De Balinthazy.

Twitch rarely gives any official reasons for banning streamers or taking other disciplinary action against them. Marlon was surprised by his ban, and he took to X to question it in a tweet. After some speculation, diligent fans have managed to dig up the apparent reason for the streamer’s ban.

Marlon Twitch ban

Marlon appeared in a stream with Parti streamer Sneako, who was pretending to be Rangesh “N3on” Mutama’s cameraman. This was apparently to avoid Twitch taking action against Marlon. It looks like Twitch was able to catch the ruse and this may have led to Marlon’s channel being suspended.

Sneako was indefinitely banned from Twitch in 2024, and the platform prohibits streamers from collaborating with permanently banned content creators. The official reason for the ban still hasn’t been confirmed and Twitch is unlikely to ever offer official confirmation, but the reveal that Marlon streamed with Sneako makes its reasoning pretty clear.

Marlon most recently streamed with FaZe Lacy before getting banned, and Lacy received no suspension or other discipline despite sharing an identical POV during said stream, so the ban almost certainly couldn’t have originated there. It’s just another arrow pointing back to Marlon’s stream with Sneako.

Regardless, opening the Twitch channel shows that the suspension is still just temporary. This means Marlon will almost certainly return to Twitch after the duration of the ban passes. How long the ban lasts exactly depends on how serious Twitch considers the infraction. The platform may be more lenient as this is the streamer’s first ban, though Twitch does tend to look down on streamers featuring banned users.
