Why was Dan Saltman banned from Twitch, and is it permanent?

Twitch has banned the streamer and social media personality Dan “dancantstream” Saltman, and fans are wondering why and whether the ban is permanent.

Dan Saltman is a co-host of the Anything Else? YouTube podcast. There, he talks about controversial and sensitive topics related to streamers and streaming alongside Steven “Destiny” Bonnell. Recently, dancantstream came into the limelight when Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt threatened Twitch alongside Dan. This came after there was a bounty placed on Asmongold by fellow streamer Central_Committee. Following the bounty, Twitch only banned the streamer who placed it for only two days.

On November 21, 2024, dancantstream was banned from Twitch and fans want to know why and if he’ll be back.

Why did Twitch ban dancantstream?

Dan Saltman shared a screenshot of Twitch’s reason for banning him and it states that dancantstream’s channel was banned for “extreme harassment.”

Twitch hasn’t issued a public explanation for banning the streamer, which is normal for the platform. However, dancantstream posted on his X account to inform fans that he was logging on to Twitch to request his data before deleting his channel when he found out about the ban.

The streamer further claimed that he was expecting a ban ever since he started to provide his fans with instructions on how to perform activism against Twitch. The content creator also alleged that Hasan “Hasanabi” Piker’s staff has been following him on social media while harassing him.

On the social forum Reddit, Saltman claimed that he wasn’t streaming on Twitch at the time the violation occurred. Moreover, the streamer stated that even if he was guilty of doxxing, which was the apparent source of the “extreme harassment” claim, Twitch’s Terms of Service state that a streamer can be banned for offsite offenses only if they violently threaten someone.

Is the Dan Saltman permanently banned on Twitch?

According to Twitch, Dan Saltman has been banned from the platform indefinitely via his dancantstream account.

The screenshot that Saltman shared on his X account shows that Twitch has banned him indefinitely. This means that the streamer’s ban won’t be lifted after a specific duration and he’ll need to appeal his ban.

However, it isn’t guaranteed that the appeal will be successful and that the dancantstream channel would be reinstated. Dan claims that it was actually a “manual ban.” He apparently didn’t receive an email about it and is unable to appeal the ban.
