Rumors of Fortnite x Apex Legends spread online

Content creator and insider @Excetraz initially shared details alleging that, according to a “former leaker/Epic employee,” early discussions of a potential collaboration between Fortnite and Apex Legends could have taken place.

The report was subsequently amplified by @FNBRintel, a widely followed Fortnite news and coverage page, creating hype surrounding the rumor as fans started expecting news on this long-awaited collab. 

While neither Epic Games nor Electronic Arts (EA) have officially confirmed a partnership, the prospect of an Apex Legends collaboration in Fortnite could be massive, as it may set a new standard for the industry, where collabs between two rival brands like Fortnite and Apex Legends are almost unheard of. 

Fortnite already has a history of gaming crossovers

If realized, an Apex Legends crossover would fit into Epic Games’ expansive “Gaming Legends Series,” which has previously brought characters from major franchises into Fortnite, including characters from Halo, God of War, Street Fighter, and League of Legends, introducing some rare and limited skins in the game. 

Epic Games has continued an aggressive pipeline for third-party intellectual property in 2026. Earlier this year, reports indicated that Epic Games planned dozens of major gaming collaborations throughout 2026 and into 2027, driven in part by digital promotions and store partnerships. 

Respawn Entertainment has similarly leaned into high-profile external collaborations to refresh its live-service content.

Apex Legends recently launched a massive crossover event with CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk franchise. 

Running through August 2026, the Apex Legends x Cyberpunk event introduced themed Legend skins, including David Martinez and Lucy, alongside a modified “Wildcard” game mode set in a visually overhauled Night City-style E-District. 

The event also featured specialized gameplay modifications such as the Sandevistan and Blackwall Breach cyberware abilities, as well as the AI-powered Mythic Skippy Alternator.

Each time you use a Cyberware power, your Cyberware Capacity increases. Once it hits the maximum point, your Legend goes into Cyberpsychosis.

During the effect duration, the following bonuses apply:

• Legend powers
• Shields
• Grenades and other ordinances

In order to lower your Cyberware capacity, you may use Immunoblocker Syringes. To reset it fully, locate Immunoblocker Caches on the map.

One of the coolest things about the cross over is the Mythic Skippy Alternator. This is the talking gun from Cyberpunk 2077 and comes with two different skins based on the two Apex Legends characters of Skippy: the Puppy Loving Pacifist and the Stone Cold Killer, with unique dialogue.

Exotic Shards can also be used to level up the Mythic skin with more effects and extra finishers. There are also pre-orders outside of the game for Nessie Youtooz plushies with the themes of Lucy and Rebecca until August 18.

How to earn free rewards in the Apex Legends x Cyberpunk event

Players are awarded for completing the event challenge. They can be used to purchase items from the Reward Shop, where the items keep changing according to the progression of the event.

EdBoi announced the achievement on X on April 23, saying he had streamed more than 25 hours that week while learning MnK on the unicycle setup.

While “challenge runs” aren’t new in the game’s online content atmosphere, this was the first time anyone has ever tried something this crazy, and not only did he try, he also succeeded with flying colors.

Reaching Masters, the second-highest tier in Apex Legends, just below Apex Predator, is a feat only a handful of players ever manage to achieve, even while playing in ideal conditions, playing with their mains. However, for EdBoi, things were dialed up to a hundred and fifty.

Not only does he have to master the complex “Mouse and Keyboard” (MnK) mechanics, but he also had to adapt to a dynamic viewing distance.

According to a statement shared by the creator on X, the setup forced him to play while moving three to six feet away from his monitor. This constant shifting of depth perception made aiming and tracking way more difficult compared to standard setups.

EdBoi noted that he had to effectively “re-learn” MnK inputs to compensate for the lack of a stable physical base.

EdBoi streamed more than 25 hours in a single week on YouTube using the unicycle setup to push through the final ranks.

In a competitive shooter where matches can last 20 minutes and require constant focus, the caloric and mental drain of unicycling almost made it an impossible feat.

“Apex isn’t just aim, it’s decisions,” EdBoi explained. “And most fights I was coaching myself through pure exhaustion.”

While his physical state hampered his ability to maintain a steady crosshair, his game sense and decision-making skills were as sharp as ever, enough to outplay opponents who were likely sitting comfortably in traditional gaming chairs.

The feat gained mainstream attention after the official Apex Legends Esports account shared a clip of EdBoi’s stream. The footage showed the streamer actively pedaling and adjusting his center of gravity while simultaneously engaging in team fights.

The post featured the following caption: “Imagine checking Twitch after getting eliminated and seeing some dude on a UNICYCLE,” summarizing the absurdity as well as the brilliance of the run.

ALGS 2026 will run for four days, having three stages in total. If you’re looking to get into Apex Legends betting at this tournament, let’s understand the format properly:

Legends Balance Changes in Apex Season 26 Split 2 Patch

The Big Nerfs

Ash took the biggest hit, and honestly, it was overdue. Her passive dash cooldown got bumped from 8 to 12 seconds, and the dash feels way less impactful when you’re not moving in the same direction. Her Arc Snare is also weaker now – it breaks easier, lasts only 6 seconds instead of 8, has less pulling power, and doesn’t do extra shield damage anymore.

They also removed her Level 2 Dual Breach & Marked for Death upgrades, though she got some compensation with increased Phase Breach range and cooldown reduction. Respawn’s reasoning makes sense – despite previous nerfs, Ash was still dominating lobbies, and these changes should make it easier to punish players who get too aggressive with her kit.

Sparrow also got knocked down a peg. His Tracker Dart duration dropped from 15 to 12 seconds, and his Stinger Bolt is much more manageable now with only 400 health instead of 550. The bolt also slows Sparrow and his teammates now, not just enemies, which is a pretty significant drawback. His Extra Traps upgrade only gives one additional trap instead of two. The developers wanted to address the frustration of being tracked for too long and make the Stinger Bolt easier to destroy with focused fire from a couple players.

Smart Adjustments

Caustic got some tweaks that feel fair. His gas damage ramps up slower now (every 2 ticks instead of every tick), and they removed the annoying aim punch when taking gas damage. These changes keep him viable while making the gas less oppressive to deal with.

The Comeback Kings

Seer received probably the most comprehensive rework in the patch, and it looks like Respawn really wants him back in the meta. His passive got permanently upgraded with the Long View enhancement, extending his range to 75 meters. The heartbeat is now one constant pulse instead of varying beats, with better UI and directional indicators.

His tactical is where things get interesting – weapon holster time is 60% faster, hitting someone gives Seer a 4-second speed boost, scan duration increased to 4 seconds, and the cooldown dropped to just 20 seconds. However, there’s more delay before the scan activates (1 second vs 0.7), so it’s not completely broken. The ultimate changes are massive too. Permanent Artist’s Reach means 50-meter throw range, bigger sphere radius, enhanced jumping and ADS hover inside the dome, and better throw mechanics. New upgrades include showing enemy locations for 5 seconds after they leave the dome and 4x faster tactical recharge inside the sphere.

Mad Maggie got some quality-of-life improvements that should make her more reliable. Her Riot Drill animation is 10% faster with no delay, and the Wrecking Ball throws 25% quicker with better obstacle navigation. The ball does up to 25 damage now (up from 20) but only lasts 7 seconds instead of 10. The speed pads are completely different – they last 20 seconds instead of 60, give fortified buff, increase movement speed for 3.5 seconds, and deactivate for 6 seconds after use. Her new Gun Running upgrade extends her passive movement speed to SMGs and pistols, while Fire Ball drops magma patches and gives Maggie 50% fire damage resistance.

The Weapon Balance Nobody Asked For

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room – weapon balance is still a complete mess. The Charge Rifle, Repeater, and Peacekeeper are still running rampant in lobbies, and players on X are calling them straight up “OP” and “odee” (overdone). The PK got a tiny tweak to its mid-range shield drain, but that’s basically putting a band-aid on a broken bone. These weapons are still completely skewing the meta, and it feels like Respawn just ignored months of community feedback.

Mid-range gameplay is practically dead because why would you poke when you can just ape with a Peacekeeper or beam someone across the map with a Charge Rifle? The time-to-kill situation is getting ridiculous too. The G7 Scout got faster Ultimate charge rate and the Wingman had its damage reduced slightly, but these changes feel like they’re missing the bigger picture entirely. Sure, they added the new Turbocharger Hop-Up which adds some variety, but when the core weapon balance is broken, small additions don’t really matter.

Map Rotation: A Major L

This might be the most frustrating part of the update. We’re stuck with Olympus and King’s Canyon again, and the community is calling it a “major L” – and they’re not wrong. These maps are notorious for encouraging third-partying chaos and performance issues that make the game feel laggy and unstable.

Players have been begging for fresher map options or at least some rotation variety, but instead we get the same problematic maps that have been causing issues for seasons. It’s like Respawn heard the complaints and decided to double down on what wasn’t working.

The Technical Nightmare Continues

Here’s what’s really grinding people’s gears – all the fundamental issues that make the game frustrating to play are still there. Voice chat is still bugged out, graphics look blurry for tons of players, disconnects happen way too frequently, and don’t even get started on the anti-cheat situation. Ranked is practically unplayable with the amount of cheaters running around, and the community has been screaming about this for months.

Instead of addressing these core problems that actually affect gameplay quality, we get minor weapon tweaks that don’t solve anything. Some players are calling this whole patch “ragebait” because it feels like Respawn is intentionally sidestepping the issues everyone actually cares about. When your game has fundamental technical problems, balancing a few weapons doesn’t really matter.
