Cloud9 announce its updated LCS roster and Challengers lineup

Cloud9 has announced its lineups for the 2023 LCS and Challenger season, including a new young mid laner for the LCS squad.

The offseason has been open for official transfers for a few days, and C9 is one of the first major organizations to announce its complete lineups. For 2023, C9 will make one change to the LCS roster as mid laner Dimitri “Diplex” Ponomarev will replace veteran Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen. 

Furthermore, C9 announced its Challengers roster, which includes six new players. Some names are familiar from the North American scene, while mid laner Jang “EMENES” Min-soo will make his first appearance in the region.

The complete Cloud9 2023 LCS roster revealed 

Following a good 2022 season, C9 won’t make many changes to the starting LCS roster. The team won the 2022 LCS Championship and participated at Worlds 2022 as NA’s first seed. 

There are only changes to the mid lane, where C9 is betting on young talent over the experienced Jensen. Diplex comes directly from Vitality.Bee in the French LFL and is still unproven in a major league. The 19-year-old German will have a real test in front of him, now playing for one of the top organizations in the world. 

Fortunately for Diplex, he is surrounded by experience. With support Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen taking his taking split in the role to lead the team and Robert “Blaber” Huang in the jungle, C9 is still looking rock solid. Diplex will be the only question mark for the season, while the rest of C9 should continue to build synergy and strength.

Here is the Cloud9 Challengers squad for 2023

For the C9 Challenger squad, the organization is doing a significant revamp. Six new players have entered the team, and only veteran top laner Darshan “Darshan” Upadhyaya remains from the last split. 

One of the most interesting new players will be EMENES, who comes directly from JD XL in the NLC. He showed in Europe that he has a lot of potentials, and alongside Diplex on the LCS squad, C9 has two interesting young carries on its hands. 

The rest of the C9 Challenger squad will be filled with former LCS players such as bot laner Lawrence “Lost” Hui, support Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam, and top laner Aaron “FakeGod” Lee. 

The team will play with two top lakers and two junglers. The two youngsters Jade “Sheiden” Libut and Tomio “Tomio” Chan, will share the spot in the jungle.
