The best-of-ones are done for half of the competitors in BLAST Austin Major Stage 1, and Heroic and FlyQuest will face off in one of the tournament’s first best-of-threes.

Heroic and FlyQuest were generally expected to clear the first group stage of the biggest Counter-Strike tournament of 2025 so far. One of them is going to take the quickest path possible. Only one of them will be able to stamp their ticket to the next round with a 3-0 record, though.

Heroic vs FlyQuest in-depth team match analysis

Heroic entered the BLAST Austin Major as a dark horse contender. It faced a long road to the playoffs, starting in Stage 1, but it’s off to an excellent start so far. Andrey “tN1R” Tatarinovich and Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia have been a devastating one-two punch, which has led the team to 13-7 and 13-5 wins over Chinggis Warriors and NRG, respectively.

This continues what has been a great resurgence for the Heroic organization. Despite having to hit the reset button on its CS division in January, its new roster gelled quickly and is tearing through the tier-two scene while looking solid against tier-one competition. The BLAST Austin Major could be a coming out party for them.

While Heroic has been exceeding expectations, FlyQuest hasn’t been living up to them. The obligatory Australian team is consistently a fan favorite regardless of what organization it’s attached to. Though there’s something of a winning legacy there for Grayhound Gaming, Renegades, and even 100 Thieves, that’s not really the case with FlyQuest yet.

Australian Counter-Strike has been generally struggling under the organization’s banner, but there’s a glimmer of hope here at the BLAST Austin Major. The team took best-of-one wins over Fluxo and BetBoom to push its way to contention. The question now is whether Jay “Liazz” Tregillgas and company can recapture the magic that pushed Renegades to multiple top-eight finishes in majors once again.

FlyQuest and Heroic is effectively a novel matchup. These two organizations last played each other in 2024, but Heroic completely overhauled its roster in January after its roster was gutted by Team Falcons.
