Are you wondering how to spectate in Fortnite? Sometimes, watching someone play the game can be just as much fun, if not more than, playing it yourself. This is especially true if you have a talented teammate, because there’s otherwise no real way to see what they’re doing. You’ll also have a great time if your friend isn’t doing so well and is getting obliterated before the final showdown.

If you want to spectate at any point (or for whichever reason), here’s what you need to know.

If you want to know how to spectate in Fortnite for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, or any other platform, you’re going to follow the same steps in general. There are two main options, and the first is to get eliminated.

Of course, this will hamper your teammate since you won’t be around anymore so in general, it’s not a good idea to do on purpose. Still, if you are adamant about it, just get knocked and bleed out, and you will be able to watch any one of your teammates while they play.

You might need to let the teammates know not to revive or reboot you in this situation, though. If you do it in Solo mode, you can spectate the player who killed you. You can watch them until they die and then follow the person who eliminated them. You can watch an entire Fortnite match from the POV of other players this way.

The other option is to use the Watch Game feature. This can only be done by joining a friend’s party after a match. They may be in solos, duos, trios, or even squads, but the game has to have started. Then, you can join and instead of readying up, you can press to watch the match instead. You will be a passive viewer, though. If you die out and spectate, you can ping things on the map, but that won’t be the case in this alternative.

How to spectate in Fortnite Creative

The same rules generally apply in Fortnite Creative. Whatever experience your friend is having, you can use the exact same methods. You can either join the game and die out to watch, or wait to join until it’s “too late” to play and watch. The only issue is that Creative game experiences often go by quickly. They’re not as lengthy as Battle Royale games, so you might spectate for a few minutes before a new round begins and places you in the game. You’d have to leave and repeat the process to avoid this, which can be tedious and annoying.

How to spectate in Fortnite tournament

To watch a tournament, there are a few options. For one, you can always head to the stream of the tournament, which is usually on the official Fortnite Twitch page. If you want to actually spectate from within Fortnite on your console, PC, or mobile device, there is a way, but it’s not super accessible.

To do this, you need to go to Epic Games’ Competitive Page to view the Rules and Guidelines, and then you have to be given access. It’s not an available option for everyone, and Twitch streams are much easier to spectate. Of course, if you’re in the tournament and get eliminated, you can spectate from there.
