Hytale hits Early Access in January

After weeks of speculation, we finally have a date for the release of Hytale, as the game’s original creator unveils the early access launch for January 2026.

Revealed by social post on Nov. 28, Hytale will release into Early Access on Jan. 13, just over six weeks from now. The announcement fulfills creator Simon “Hypixel” Collins-Laflamme promise of “no more waiting,” pushing the game out in just a matter of weeks.

Pre-orders for the game will also be available from Dec. 13, 2023.

Hytale release date revealed – get your hands on Hytale in January

Turn back the clock only a month ago, the idea of having a Hytale release date was a fantasy. But with the return of the embattled Minecraft-like from former publisher Riot Games, back to its original creators, has spurred rapid progress.

With the return to an older Java-based build, Hytale, a game many have waited almost a decade for, is just weeks away from release.

But even the Hytale team isn’t shying away from the fact this is an Early Access build, and not the final game. In the post about their pre-orders they stressed the following:

“If you wish to pre-purchase the game, pre-orders open December 13, 2025. If you don’t feel comfortable pre-ordering, please don’t. This is true early access, meaning it’s still very much unfinished and will be buggy for a while.

But you have the team’s commitment to make Hytale the game we’ve always wanted it to be.More details are coming soon. Thank you, everyone, for your support. Hytale has been through a long journey, and soon, we will be home.”

In the meantime, the Hytale socials and creator Hypixel have been sharing plenty of screenshots. And while they’re clear that these are far from the finished products, what they have so far is very exciting. There’s something about the simple 3D aesthetic that makes the visuals timeless. Even unfinished, Hytale’s Early Access release, and low price point, could make it extremely popular.
