League of Legends price change 2024

Riot Games is raising League prices for virtual currency on regional servers worldwide, and fans aren’t happy with the company’s explanation.

According to the press release, several regions across the globe will be seeing price increases in mid-September for RP bundles, the in-game currency for League. Riot last increased prices back in 2022, for an average 10% increase across the board. The new changes will see both far greater and far less price changes.

Here’s when players need to be concerned about seeing League prices increase and where they might get a pleasant surprise.

League prices increasing across Asia and Europe

New League of Legends prices will take effect on September 18, 2024, making RP bundles more expensive in Asia and Europe.

Riot has announced how the new League pricing will affect almost thirty different regions. Here’s where players can expect to see the highest increase in prices:

  • Brazil: +20%
  • Malaysia: +23%
  • Turkey: +24%
  • Taiwan: +33%
  • Vietnam: +41%
  • Ukraine: +73%

Both European and East Asian League players can generally expect to spend more on RP bundles even outside of the countries listed above. Conversely, most countries in Latin America will either remain the same or decrease in price, meaning that LATAM players will be able to get more RP for less real-world currency.

Bundle prices will remain the same in the United States. Currently, the US exchange rate is $99.99 for 13,500 RP.

Riot justifies price changes with shifts in exchange rates

In the official announcement, Riot stated that the League price increases and decreases are to match current exchange rates and reduce market manipulation.

By raising League of Legends RP prices, the company hopes to maintain a more balanced cost across countries that matches current exchange rates. Additionally, Riot has cited the prevalence of third-party companies buying and selling RP for a profit that hurts players in the long run.

To compensate for the increased price change, Riot is offering bonus RP promos in Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. No similar deals have been announced for European countries also penalized by higher costs. Far from being popular, many fans from different regions are complaining about high pricing.

Players across the world have until September 18 to stock up on RP before League bundle prices go up. In the meantime, they can check and see how much they’ve spent so far.
