LYON qualifies for LoL Worlds and ends Shopify Rebellion’s miracle run

LYON defeated Shopify Rebellion in round 3 of the lower bracket of the LCS Summer playoffs. With this victory, they reach the loser’s final and claim NA’s third spot at the 2026 League of Legends World Championship. This ends Shopify Rebellion’s miracle run through the lower bracket, but they will play in the Demacia Cup Global Invitational starting October 2.

LYON beats Shopify Rebellion 3-1, qualifies for Worlds

LYON had a very disappointing match against Cloud9, where they played far below their usual standards. C9 knocked them down to the lower bracket, where they would need to play one more match to qualify for Worlds.

Going up against Shopify who finished the regular season in sixth place, there was no doubt about the outcome of this match. Still, SR’s upset wins against Sentinels and FlyQuest started making people wonder.

However, the gap between the top three teams and the next three is just too wide. LYON seemed to have fully recovered from their round 2 slump, and SR stood no chance. Shopify managed to take the third game, but that was all she wrote.

LYON will now face Cloud9 for a rematch in the lower final. So far, they’ve secured the third place minimum, and each match they win from now on bumps them up one spot.

An end to Shopify Rebellion’s miracle run

SR finished the regular season in sixth place, going 3-4. Starting the playoffs, they went up against Cloud9 who swiftly stomped them 3-0.

In the lower bracket, they faced Sentinels and it looked to end the same as SEN was up 2-0. Then, SR managed to reverse sweep them, ending the series off the back of an Elder steal to save game 5.

With one upset win to their name, they proceeded to face a stronger opponent in FlyQuest. FLY looked strong as expected in the opening game. However, they crumbled in their losses, and SR ended up taking this series 3-2 as well.

With one final series left to qualify for Worlds, they fell short at the finish line. Shopify Rebellion still managed a run way above their expectations. Finishing in fourth place, they will play in the Demacia Cup Global Invitational alongside FlyQuest.
