MSL Thailand’s pathway to MLBB MSC and M8 World Championship revealed

MOONTON has unveiled the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Super League (MSL) Thailand and the MLBB esports roadmap for the region.

The main takeaway from today’s announcement is that Thailand has been integrated into the global MLBB esports ecosystem, with pathways to the Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the M8 World Championship.

Firstly, the MSL Thailand will kick off on April 18, with a five-week regular season. Ten teams are set to compete from the Lido Connect in Bangkok for the title.

MOONTON has also committed THB 10 million (about $306,000) per season which includes the prize pool and community initiatives.

The developer said in a release that this format has been designed to support team operations, develop fanbases, and ensure long-term sustainability of the competition. Hao Zhen Siew, the head of MLBB esports, Thailand, at MOONOTN Games said that the present structure closes gaps that were identified in the region.

“What was missing over time were structural links that allow talent to sustain and scale. We identified three key gaps: a consistent professional league that teams could plan around, clear long-term pathways for players and staff, and a stable connection to MLBB’s global competitive esports calendar. MSL Thailand addresses these gaps by providing continuity, professionalism, and direct integration into the global ecosystem, which is why now is the right time.”

MSL Thailand joins the global MLBB esports circuit

The champion of the MSL Thailand will receive a slot to the MSC 2026 Wildcard Stage.

The second-place team will earn one more chance to make it to the MSC by qualifying for the MLBB Challenge Cup Mekong (MCCM). The champion of this multi-region tournament will head to the MSC Wildcard as well.

Furthermore, Thailand will also feed into the MLBB Championship Tour (MCT) SEA. Teams from here will then have the chance to qualify for the M8.

A key development is that Thailand will play host to the M8 World Championship Wildcard Stage.

Additionally, MOONTON has announced the launch of the Thailand Qualifiers for the MLBB Women’s International (MWI). The Thai qualifier will feed into the MCCM qualifier which leads to the MWI in Saudi Arabia.

While Thailand hasn’t been given direct slots to the Main Events of both the MSC and the M8, the present structure makes sense.

The region is a developing one for MLBB esports, and MOONTON has just begun investing into it. The slot allocation may change in the coming years depending on how Thai teams perform internationally.
