T1 and Hanwha Life Esports have a rematch of their round 2 encounter in the lower final of the LCK Season Playoffs 2026. Starting September 12 at 7am CEST / 1am EST, the two teams will face off to move up against Gen.G in the grand final of the event. As they already won one week ago, HLE is the favorite to take down T1 a second time.

Why the market favors Hanwha Life Esports

The first easy answer as to why the market favors Hanwha Life Esports is recent results. T1 and HLE already met in round 2 of the LCK Season Playoffs on September 2, and it was Hanwha Life who won this match 3-2. Not only that, they’ve won the last five matches in the head-to-head.

That being said, HLE and T1’s playoff match was as close as it gets. Not only did it go to five games, Hanwha Life had to reverse sweep T1. As the World Champions were in a good position in game 3 of that match, this series could have realistically gone 3-0 in their favor.

Hope definitely exists for T1. The issue is that they’re unrelenting, leading either to their victory or to a self-caused demise. Hanwha Life happens to be the other LCK team that’s most willing to look for kills.

As a result, their previous series ended with 159 kills, while all games finished under 30 minutes. This adds up to 1.16 kill per minute across the entire best-of-five. If T1 can keep the circus under control, they can win the match the way they already almost managed to, but they’ve shown to seldom be able to manage that.

Presently, HLE teamfights better. While both teams are at an excellent level and will both fish for outplays, T1 makes slight miscalculations that can cost the entire fight. For instance, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok tried using Lissandra’s claw to teleport in the middle of HLE, right in front of the Cho’Gath from Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok. Immediately silenced, Faker died on the spot and the fight was over right away.

Users on Reddit mostly agree on the fact that whichever team wins the lower bracket will just lose to Gen.G in the grand final. Beyond that, the common sentiment is that Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok are in much better form than Yoo “Delight” Hwan-joong.

There’s a reason HLE has already won that match-up five times in a row. Ultimately, T1 cannot be trusted domestically. At Worlds, T1 finds their strength when every other team powers down. But the last time they even reached the final of an LCK split was in Spring 2024.
