Team Vitality is out of IEM Cologne and, shockingly, that means that MOUZ and Team Spirit are set to play in the event’s finals. It’s a jarring notion, given how Vitality has won every tournament it has played in dating back to February.

MOUZ was the team that had the honor of breaking that winning streak. There wasn’t any one thing that MOUZ did to solve Team Vitality’s proverbial puzzle. Vitality made a few key mistakes in important rounds and MOUZ managed to consistently punish them and convert that into economy-busting wins. ZywOo was also jarringly unimpactful, getting out-fragged by Dan “apEX” Madesclaire. The full MOUZ roster was great in the series, but Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás was the key driver of that success with a 40-19 KD and 1.48 rating.

The Russian squad got the better of MOUZ during the IEM Cologne group stage, which was largely driven on Danil “donk” Kryshkovets’s individual firepower being backed up by his team. While donk will get his kills in victory or defeat, the question is whether Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov or Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotia will be able to deliver, too.
