Consistency is a hard thing to come by in Counter-Strike, as Team Falcons can attest to. The MongolZ is one of the few teams that has really found it, though. In almost every prominent tournament it plays in, the Mongolian team has been able to push its way into the playoffs. That consistency might be broken though, but in a good way. The team has scarcely made its way into tournament finals, but is in a prime position to do so here.

The MongolZ vs Pain Gaming in-depth team, match analysis

The MongolZ play straightforward Counter-Strike, and that hasn’t really changed in Austin. The team has shown up, and largely played the same kind of games that it has all year.

The one key exception to that is Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold. The rifler has been markedly sharper than his usual in Austin, even as the attention on the team shifts to Ayush “mzinho” Batbold. He’s the third-highest-rated player of the Austin Major’s primary stages, behind only superstars Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.

Pain Gaming had an unremarkable season, but has stepped things up at the BLAST Austin Major in a big way. That hasn’t been limited to one player, though. Most of the team has been more polished than what they’ve shown this year, but the main drivers behind that success have been Lucas “nqz” Soares and Franco “dgt” Garcia.

nqz has been able to notch some of his best games of 2025. When he has popped off, Pain has been able to consistently turn that into a win. dgt has often been able to plug the holes when nqz has an off game, but not always.

The MongolZ will need to hold down nqz and keep dgt bottled up in order to get the win. They should be up to the task, though.

Map pool

  • The MongolZ have primarily thrived on Mirage, going 16-8 on the map in 2025. The team also has solid winrates across Ancient, Inferno, and Dust 2, but is slightly below .500 on Nuke and Anubis.
  • Pain Gaming in 2025 only had a winning record across Nuke and Mirage. It was even on Dust 2 while having a deeply losing record everywhere else, most notably going 6-16 on Inferno. The team is playing better in Austin across the board, and has been steering thing to Dust 2, going 5-3 across eight maps.
  • The MongolZ permabans Train and while Pain Gaming has technically played on all seven maps this year, it has only played on Ancient once all year. That did come in Austin, though.

The MongolZ vs Pain Gaming betting picks and predictions

Since the Shanghai Major, The MongolZ have scarcely lost to teams ranked outside the top 15. Even with Pain Gaming having a Cinderella run of its own, the team is still ranked well outside the top 15. Keep that in mind when you look at the , or anywhere else.

Best picks

  • The MongolZ wins 2-0 @ 2.15 – As FaZe Clan experienced, when The MongolZ is hard to stop once it starts finding momentum. If The MongolZ find an opening, which they likely will, they’ll likely get the 2-0 win.
  • The MongolZ wins 2-1 @ 3.17 – The one way that the team doesn’t find a win is if Nuke makes its way through picks and bans. The MongolZ is relatively weak on Nuke while it’s Pain’s best map in 2025.
  • nqz under 15.5 kills on map 1 @ 1.80 – While players like donk and ZywOo find ways to get kills regardless of their team’s performance, nqz tends plays to his team’s level. Against The MongolZ, that’s likely to be a comparatively low level.

Prediction

Our pick: The MongolZ win 2-0 @ 2.15
