Vitality is well on its way to winning another one of the biggest Counter-Strike tournaments of 2025. Its epic year started with winning IEM Katowice 2025, and it’s exclusively taken first-place finishes since then, all the way through the BLAST Austin Major. Despite having a packed trophy shelf already, IEM Cologne would be one of the team’s biggest of the year. Can it pull it off against MOUZ, though?

There was a short little while where it seemed like Team Vitality wasn’t invincible. After winning the Intel Grand Slam’s $1 million prize, it headed to IEM Dallas. The team was still winning, but it survived nailbiters against The MongolZ and The Falcons, while MOUZ continued to look like a credible challenger. Vitality’s winning streak technically being snapped with an upset best-of-one defeat at the hands of Legacy certainly didn’t help matters.

Flash forward six weeks and Vitality looks as dominant as ever. The team recovered by steamrolling the competition in the Austin Major’s group stage and wound up taking home the organization’s second major championship. If there were any questions about motivation after winning a major and restarting the Intel Grand Slam journey, they were answered with the team steamrolling the IEM Cologne group stage.

It’s difficult to even broach the subject of CS2 betting when Vitality is involved because the team has been so good. It’s good on every map and wins every match. It’s similarly tough to delve into the X’s and O’s when it has an all-time great in Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and the rest of the team is collectively excellent.

All this is to say that MOUZ is in a very difficult position. There isn’t any apparent avenue toward victory and they’re just going to have to play exceptionally strong Counter-Strike and catch Vitality by surprise in order to win. Given how often MOUZ has lost to Vitality this year, precedent suggests that won’t be the case.

• MOUZ’s permaban is unclear. It was banning the now-removed Anubis but it’s unclear if it’s avoiding any one map. The one map MOUZ hasn’t played in Cologne is Dust 2, so that could be their new permaban.
