The Honor of Kings World Cup (KWC) 2026 could settle a regional rivalry as things stand in the upcoming grand final. China’s AG.AL and Kuashiou Gaming, two of the favorites coming into the competition, have made it to opposite ends of the playoffs, setting up a potential grand final clash.

The KWC and other mid-season Honor of Kings tournaments have been won by Chinese teams since its inception.

AG.AL and Kuashiou Gaming lived up to those expectations in the group stage. Over in group A, AG.AL made quick work of Team Vitality and Blacklist International with 2–0 wins to make the Knockout Stage.

Kuashiou Gaming, on the other hand, replicated the result in group C against Revenant XSpark and Virtus.pro.

AG.AL and Kuashiou Gaming have strong local storylines coming into the KWC

The KWC is meaningful for China because of how its two representatives qualified for the tournament.

Firstly, we have Kuashiou Gaming. Earlier this year, the team defied all odds to become the champion of the KPL Spring 2026. They achieved this feat in an intense best-of-seven grand final against Wolves Esports, despite the fact that they had lost to them thrice during the spring season.

What made their win truly historic, though, is the fact that they were promoted to the KPL just last year and have gone on to win the entire tournament.

AG.AL, on the other hand, were the favorites to win the KPL Spring. This was unsurprising because the team had won five KPL editions over the past two years, which included a win in the KWC 2025.

However, a 4–2 loss to Kuashiou Gaming, defying Honor of Kings betting odds, denied them the opportunity to continue their winning ways.

Now, for the first time since that loss, the two could be heading towards a potential clash again.

Before the grand final, though, they have to overcome opponents in the quarterfinals and semifinals. With the group stage still active, their precise opponents haven’t been finalized yet.

Will the two teams meet in the grand final, or could we see upsets as we saw at the MLBB Mid-Season Cup? Let us know in our community forums!
