This match has an interesting setup, one we’ve never seen before. Since the Spring Split final, KC and G2 have played at MSI, then at the EWC. Now, they’re both starting the split without a break and immediately play in front of a massive crowd in a 8,000-seats arena.

Here’s where that puts the match-up.

• By default, G2 is better than KC.
• This can be mitigated by the fact that the LEC champions have a high variance with their individual form. Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik, Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan, and Rasmus “Caps” Winther can each be the best in their role as well as non-factors. On the other side, Martin “Yike” Sundelin and Caliste “Caliste” Henry-Hennebert have the same problem.
• G2 famously plays worse during the regular season as they use it as a break. By contrast, KC is at their best there.
• However, G2 plays much better in an arena and in front of a crowd, which is the case there. On the other hand, the crowd will entirely rally behind KC, helping them more.

Then comes the question of the exhaustion, for both teams. On top of it, how they adapted to a meta that is evolving very fast and away from anyone’s comfort zones.

Obviously, there’s no guessing how all these parameters add up. Particularly when there’s the question of the form on the day, one that can never be anticipated.
