G2 Esports vs Paper Rex match overview

  • Tournament: VALORANT Masters Santiago
  • Stage: Swiss Stage
  • Format: Best-of-three

G2 Esports: The return of the VCT demigods

G2 Esports has been a part of the VCT Americas League since 2024. Since then, the team has made it a goal to qualify for back-to-back VALORANT Champions tournaments (2024 and 2025). In the 2025 season, the team was one of the best teams in the VCT circuit. They were the 3-peat champions of VCT Americas 2025. But in the 2026 season, the team hasn’t been at its best.

They won their first match against 100 Theives with a scoreline of 2-1. Following this, they faced the biggest upset of the tournament, losing to Furia with a score of 2-1. Many believed that G2 Esports would secure a spot from the upper bracket. and not from the middle bracket. In the middle bracket, G2 Esports went on an incredible run, defeating the likes of Cloud9, NRG Esports, and MIBR. During these 3 matches, G2 Esports didn’t lose a single map, thus qualifying for VALORANT Masters Santiago in a flawless manner.

Paper Rex: The Pacific kings

Paper Rex is one of the most popular teams in VALORANT Esports. Back in the 2025 season, they won VALORANT Masters Toronto, which was their first international VALORANT trophy. During VALORANT Champions 2025, they finished in 4th place. During VCT Pacific Kickoff 2026, similar to G2 Esports, they started not in the best manner. They lost to T1 and RRQ, thus pushing Paper Rex to the lower bracket and the brink of elimination. Realising the situation they are in, they went back to the tactical board.

They first defeated Global Esports 2-1 in the rematch. In the match against DRX, they defeated them with a scoreline of 2-1. In the lower bracket, they defeated RRQ with a scoreline of 3-1. In this match, we saw the duo of Something and D4v4I prove they are some of the best players in VCT this season.

G2 Esports vs Paper Rex betting picks & predictions

The last time G2 Esports faced off against Paper Rex, Paper Rex defeated them with a scoreline of 2-1 at the VALORANT Radiant International Invitational. Going into this game, it is quite tough to predict who the favourites are to win. If we take a look at the betting odds, both teams have the same odds to win.

In our opinion, if Paper Rex can win the first map against G2 Esport then they will win the series. Till now, we haven’t seen G2 Esports complete a reverse sweep this season. In our opinion, we feel that Paper Rex will be able to defeat G2 Esports with a scoreline of 2-1.
