Why the market favors G2 Esports
Team Vitality overtook G2 Esports in the standings in the final weeks of the LEC Summer Split 2026 regular season. In fact, VIT hasn’t lost a match since their two losses from the very first week of the split.
However, both teams have a completely different look once they’re in the playoffs. Ever since they joined the EU LCS in 2016, Team Vitality has never reached a series win rate above 50% in any playoffs. This holds true regardless of their regular season performance.
In Spring 2026, this tendency showed its biggest occurrence yet. Team Vitality placed first in the Spring Split regular season with a score of 8-1 before going 0-6 in the playoffs. Now, the trust placed in them is at an all-time low, and they haven’t been the star of the regular season this time.
Against them, G2 is the opposite. The eternal LEC champions famously don’t put much effort into their regular season. Attending just about every international, they get fewer breaks than every other team in Europe, so they take a step back at the beginning of each split.
Then, once they’re in the playoffs, they’re a much stronger team once more. In Winter 2026, they barely qualified at the final game before destroying Karmine Corp and sweeping through the bracket.
Both teams were even in the regular season standings, but VIT loses their steam in the playoffs while G2 picks up the pace. The one area of uncertainty is that Vitality replaced their mid laner ahead of this split. With An “FIESTA” Hyeon-seo replacing Marek “Humanoid” Brázda, perhaps the team can show a different face in the playoffs. However, this statistic has survived across each of their rosters.
What traders are saying
Users on the G2 Esports subreddit believe in G2 having to make a run through the lower bracket this time. However, most users also believe that they’ll beat Vitality to then lose to Karmine Corp in the upper final.

Our prediction
Prediction: G2 Esports to win
G2 always prepares better and plays better in playoff matches. Moreover, the upper bracket plays in a roadshow arena, and they further thrive in front of a big crowd. On the other hand, that’s where Vitality falters – and they’ve already lost to G2 this split.
