KC beats G2 in the LEC Summer Split: Karmine Corp

Karmine Corp just beat G2 Esports 2-1 to finish off Week 1 of the LEC 2026 Summer Split. With that win, KC once again starts off the regular season strong with a 3-0 record.

Next Saturday, they’ll look to extend their lead while the bottom six teams will start working their way up. Here’s a recap of KC vs G2 and the greater picture of the LEC.

Karmine Corp beat G2 Esports 2-1

The two teams faced off at the end of Week 1. KC opened with a decisive game 1, destroying their opponent in 31 minutes. Immediately, G2 fought back with an equally strong stomp for game 2.

After these, though, game 3 was one for the history books. Was it clean? No, really not, but it was entertaining. Reaching 48 kills in 43 minutes, it was a typical game with a support Camille.

This match took place in the Adidas Arena in Paris. The 8,000-seat arena was filled with fans constantly chanting in favor of KC.

As the series went on, it became clear that the environment affected the players. People were looking for outplays without calculating the odds, missing kills by trying to predict flashes. Going further into game 3, the constant deafening crowd noise affected everybody’s focus and mistakes multiplied.

KC takes the lead in the LEC with the effect of the French crowd

This week, only the top four teams from the Spring regular season were playing. Now, the Summer Split is just three days in and all matchups between those four teams are already over until the playoffs. So while only one week has elapsed, the current standings will matter a lot at the end of the split.

Right now, KC looks great, like they’ve clearly gained confidence since playing at the Esports World Cup. G2 are truly toe-to-toe with them, despite shakier individual forms. On the contrary, Team Vitality and Movistar KOI haven’t impressed at all. This weekend also puts Karmine Corp at 6-0 across roadshow matches in Paris.

Looking at the bigger picture, though, this weekend has been great news for the LEC, as the rivalry between KC and G2 is in full bloom. Even though the series record is 7-3 in favor of G2 (and 2-0 best-of-ones for KC) since Caliste “Caliste” Henry-Hennebert joined Karmine, every match is worth watching and the community agrees.

The LEC 2026 Summer Split Week 1 booked the Adidas Arena, the venue used for Worlds 2024 semifinals. Somehow, the league managed to fill the 8,000-seats arena for regular season games.

With a peak of over 366,000 viewers, the G2 vs KC match also had higher viewership than any regular season game in the 2025 Summer Split.
