Why the market favors Karmine Corp
KC has established themselves as an actual LoL Worlds team by going through the Play-in Stage. After a very shaky initial best-of-five against Cloud9, they went 6-0 through their next two matches. Overcoming this stage meant that the KC that’s showing up at Worlds isn’t the one that got schooled at the Mid-Season Invitational.
On their good level, Karmine Corp is fearsome. This is the only Western team besides G2 Esports that managed to beat T1 in a series. Arguably, they aren’t at their peak performance at this tournament – and neither is any European team.
Currently, Karmine Corp falters in late game teamfights, while teamfights were supposed to be their strength. KC is still respectable at them, but they make small mistakes that their opponents fully capitalize on. Against LYON and Bilibili Gaming, it was these precise moments that made the victory slip away.
However, the market favors Karmine Corp because traders don’t expect CFO to be able to punish those mistakes the same way. Alternatively, the Oysters make more blunders than the average team at Worlds, and KC will not fail to capitalize on them.
In terms of individual strength, Martin “Yike” Sundelin isn’t having his best tournament. The Smite steals, the choices of fights, the mechanics, he’s done better.
KC vs CFO: Early game aggression against teamfights
CFO has a very aggressive early game, and they draft for it too. This team has a higher priority on Kai’Sa and Tristana for that purpose. KC’s bot lane and jungle can easily fall to that.
The question for Karmine Corp vs CTBC Flying Oyster is whether CFO can then hold that potential lead. In crucial teamfights, they’ve looked worse than their three opponents so far, and KC will press on that. Then, Karmine Corp also has Kim “Canna” Chang-dong who will build a lead no matter what.
CFO has to race against the clock. Chances are not in their favor.

Our prediction
Prediction: Karmine Corp to win
For sure, KC has been shaky, and CFO beat Team Liquid and held a lead against T1. At the same time, Karmine also found themselves in a great spot in each one of their games. Most likely, they will be able to replicate that and CFO won’t manage to turn it around like LYON and BLG did.
