LYON vs JD Gaming: Best betting odds for LoL EWC 2026
LYON faces JD Gaming in group D of the LoL Esports World Cup 2026. While North America is on a high since claiming third place at the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational, they’ve yet to win a series against the LPL or LCK this year. Will this Bo1 be their first?

LYON vs JD Gaming match analysis
The two teams have strengths and weaknesses in similar areas. LYON has a very risk-averse playstyle based on conceding all fights that don’t look perfect, but they execute well on the fights they take. JDG is famous for their excellent teamfighting, while being lackluster in side lane management. As for LYON, they struggle with making cross-map plays.
However, the bad news for North America is that the individual level of JDG players is much higher. Even though Kang “Saint” Sung-in had a massive glow-up, Niship “Dhokla” Doshi remains a potential weakness and Kacper “Inspired” Słoma had uncharacteristically bad performances.
At MSI, LYON was able to take the now-champion HLE to five games. While that is an impressive achievement from the outside, watching the games painted a different picture. Both teams were in fact very disappointing in this series. HLE would have lost against any other team, and Inspired had one of the worst series of his career.
That match was on Saturday, and LYON has had to fly from South Korea to France since then. Likely, they haven’t fully recovered from the travel and the jetlag. Certainly, they’ve not had enough time to prepare for JDG. Lastly, LYON’s style of leaving a lot of room on the map to then take perfect fights might not work against a team that fights better by default.
On the flip side for NA, this is a Bo1 on the first day of an international. While the meta should be relatively stable thanks to MSI, a lot more can happen than in a Bo5.

LYON vs JD Gaming betting picks and predictions
Both teams certainly have decent chances of winning, but JDG’s are higher than the odds indicate. JD Gaming never got to show their cards due to existing alongside Bilibili Gaming, but they’re a scary team.
Best picks
- Total kills under 29.5: LYON will be happy to play a slow game. If they aren’t forced to, JDG will gladly handshake on it.
