LYON vs Team Liquid: Prediction for the LCS Summer winner 2026

As it turns out, the first match between LYON and Cloud9 was a fluke, and LYON won the rematch in the lower final. Now, LYON will go up against Team Liquid in the 2026 LCS Summer Split grand final, on October 4 at 10pm CEST / 4pm EST. Will they match G2 Esports and win each regional split in 2026? The prediction markets believe so, as they have LYON as the favorites to win the LCS Summer grand final.

Why the market favors LYON
LYON has an impressive track record against Team Liquid, at 5-0 this year (since they’ve acquired this roster). The two teams already met in the Spring final and the result was a resounding 3-0.
The stats are all lined up against Team Liquid. LYON won every series (with a game score of 13-4), but they also won both previous LCS splits. Not only that, they’ve also been the best NA representative at internationals in years.
LYON is a strange team. It’s hard to gauge their level, and whether they’re playing well or not. LYON’s playstyle makes it so that the opponent is more likely to make a mistake, that they can then capitalize on. Which blurs the line between the opposition underperforming, or them playing well.
Against Cloud9, they had a number of sloppy plays. The first game was lost from a combination of mechanical misplays, poor decisions, and ensuing forced errors. In the rest of the series, they then kept conceding advantages they shouldn’t.
However, C9 still lost. It seems like LYON is just good at creating situations where their opponent will eventually make mistakes that they’ll capitalize on. On the final map of the series, they let their enemies take the dragon soul in order to get more resources to bank on a later fight instead of throwing the game for a contest.
How will LYON match against Team Liquid?
Now, the problem is that Team Liquid might not give them the same chances. Kacper “Inspired” Słoma said in his post-game interview that he sees TLAW as a less structured team than C9. Yet they too exposed the same later game weaknesses in Cloud9.
TLAW might be able to stomp LYON in the early game better than C9 did. Then, they can keep their lead through macro and teamfights to prevent their finalist opponent from doing what they did to Cloud9.

What traders are saying
The vast majority of people on forums are simply commenting on Cloud9 playing terribly. Particularly, the final Taliyah play that cost them the fight and the game has made people talk. Some, however, comment on the fact that LYON’s mid-jungle has looked drastically improved, while bot and top still need to wake up.
Our prediction
Prediction: LYON to win
At this point, it would be unwise to not predict them as the winner. History has proven that they can bounce back after a series loss in the playoffs. Yesterday, the rematch against Cloud9 showed that this holds true to this day.
LYON should take this series, and the predictions are even relatively close for a good potential payout. Let us know your predictions on our forums.
