Why the market favors Dplus KIA
First off, DK is an LCK team. By default, that makes them the favorite against any other region, even more so if said region isn’t the LPL.
Second, MKOI shouldn’t be there, in the eyes of most. This starts long before their Worlds run. In the LEC, they lucked their way into sixth place as Fnatic fell to GiantX on the last match of the regular season. Then, they had a hard-fought battle and won against Team Vitality 3-2, then beat Natus Vincere to make it to LoL Worlds.
From then on, they’ve been on a path of upsets. MKOI beat Karmine Corp to become Europe’s second seed. Then at Worlds, they beat the LPL’s favorite in Bilibili Gaming before claiming an easier win against CFO.
This is the first time a European team goes 2-0 in Swiss since 2023, and no one expected it to be MKOI. On a path littered with upsets, people will continue to believe in their opponents. Will this time be the correct one?
The one other time an LEC team went 2-0 in Swiss (G2 in 2023), they actually lost their next three matches and failed to qualify. However, the only other team to pull off that record is none other than DK.
That being said, MKOI has a complete stylistic mismatch against DK. Dplus KIA is an exceptionally sturdy team, always finding ways to reclaim the game from lost positions. At LoL Worlds, this is what they’ve already done against both G2 and T1. Generally speaking, they’re never out until their Nexus falls.
Against them, MKOI is the expert at throwing leads. Getting ahead, then dying stupidly and progressively losing the lead and then the game, that’s the Movistar special.
What traders are saying
Users on the League of Legends subreddit believe that MKOI has their chances, but that still makes them the underdogs. While some decide to ride the high of their momentum, most are scared of DK’s ability to claw their way back into all games.

Our prediction
Prediction: Dplus KIA to win
MKOI has had a surprisingly good top lane, and their bot lane has outperformed their opponents mechanically. However, it’s in mid that Heo “ShowMaker” Su should completely overpower Joseph “Jojopyun” Joon Pyun. With such a worrying power hole and DK’s better macro, the LCK should take this match 2-0 or at least 2-1.
