Nigma Galaxy parts ways with Ghost – Is Miracle- returning?

Emirati esports organization Nigma Galaxy has parted ways with Daniel “Ghost” Chan, the carry player who had been standing in for the organization for almost 9 months in 2025. The organization announced the departure and thanked Daniel Chan Kok Hong for his time today (Nov. 3).

During his time with the team, Ghost competed in over a dozen events and qualifiers for the team, including their 5th-6th place run at TI14. His departure has sparked rumors that Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi, former Nigma Galaxy and Team Liquid player could return following an extended absence.

Ghost’s departure from Nigma Galaxy fuels rumors of a Miracle- return

Ghost first began standing in for Nigma Galaxy in February 2025, stepping into the carry role during BLAST Slam II. However, the player was never officially announced as a member of the team. Instead, he held the role of an extended stand-in, helping the team for almost nine months before his departure.

Previously, Ghost had stood in for the team in 2024, aiding Nigma Galaxy at Clavision: Snow Ruyi, and several qualifiers.

For the majority of that time he was filling in for Miracle- who was absent from the team from February 2025. Then in April, an official announcement on Nigma Galaxy’s socials stated that Miracle- would be taking an extended break from competitive play, citing his health and personal reasons.

This mirrored a similar break which took place between December 2022 and December 2023, which saw Miracle- miss an entire year of competition.

Now with the departure of Ghost, many are speculating that for the upcoming 2025-2026 competitive season, Miracle- could return to the Nigma Galaxy roster. Miracle- is widely regarded as one of Dota 2’s best carries, having won TI with Team Liquid in 2017. He was the first player to achieve an MMR over 9,000, and is still thought of as one of the game’s top players, even with his absence. His return would be celebrated within the community.

Nigma Galaxy are scheduled to compete at PGL Wallachia Season 6 on Nov. 15. Then after a short break, they’ll finish their 2025 competing in DreamLeague Season 27. Their carry for those events is currently unknown.
