Riot Games clears VALORANT player florescent, no penalties issued

It’s been nearly a year since the VALORANT Game Changers player Ava “florescent” Eugene was accused of sexual assault. With various accusations against the player, florescent was suspended from playing in the competitive VALORANT Champions Tour.

Now, Riot Games has announced that florescent will not receive any competitive penalties. Let’s take a look at all information concerning this ruling and its impact.

Back in May 2025, there were accusations of sexual assault made by retired Game Changers player Marceline “Karie” Carson, who was supposedly speaking on behalf of her close friend.

After the post was made public, there were joint statements made by former teammates of the player.

These statements alleged that florescent showcased manipulative behavior and pathological lying. These teammates had played with florescent and became back-to-back champions of the VALORANT Game Changers Championship in 2023 and 2024.

Following these posts, on May 19, 2025, Riot Games stated that it was launching an investigation.

Now, on March 31, 2026, Riot Games has shared an update following the conclusion of the investigation.

“Riot Games has completed a formal review of Ava “florescent” Eugene in accordance with the standards outlined in the Esports Global Code of Conduct. This was a personal matter, and no sufficient evidence was found to determine that a violation of the Global Code of Conduct occurred.”

In the statement, Riot Games also shared that there will be no competitive penalties issued against florescent. This means that the player is currently eligible to compete in Riot-sanctioned events.

Riot Games concludes the statement by stating that if new material information emerges, the accusations may be revisited.

Following this announcement, VALORANT esports teams can now sign florescent to their roster.
