VALORANT Champions Shanghai 2026: 5 players who could steal the spotlight

VALORANT Champions Shanghai 2026 brings together the top 16 teams from the Americas, EMEA, Pacific, and China. While established veterans often dominate the headlines, this world championship offers rising stars a premier stage to prove themselves globally.

From explosive Duelists to rock-solid Initiators, these five players possess the mechanics and momentum to become the biggest talking points in Shanghai.

5. Timotino – 100 Thieves

Timotino may not have the same long VCT history as some established stars, but his rapid rise through North American Challengers have made him an important part of 100 Thieves.

The Canadian joined 100 Thieves in late 2025 after a strong season with TSM, where he helped the team win Challengers NA Stage 3 and reach the Ascension Americas grand final. Since moving to the VCT level, Timotino has been part of 100 Thieves 2026 title-winning campaigns at the Esports World Cup and Americas Stage 2. The team defeated NRG 3-1 at EWC before beating LOUD 3-2 in the Americas Stage 2 grand final.

Timotino is an aggressive Duelist and likes to take fights at the early stage. His recent statistics on Jett also prove that he is a reliable player with a 1.26 rating, 1.54 K/D, and 2.11 first kill-death ratio. Nevertheless, Timotino has recently used Neon as his main Duelist character in 81% of all rounds according to his latest 30-day sample.

That combination of mechanical skill and willingness to take first fights make him an important part of 100 Thieves’ attacking setup. If he can carry his domestic form onto the international stage, the VALORANT Champions Shanghai could be another major step in Timotino’s rise.

4. Sayonara – Team Vitality

Sayonara has rapidly advanced in the Challengers circuit in Europe and now faces the biggest competition of his career in Champions Shanghai. The Moldovan made his debut with Team Vitality in 2025 and joined the VCT roster only after turning 18 in March 2026. Before that, he was part of KPI Gaming, DVM Esport, VIT. Revolution and even acted as a substitute for FNATIC in the offseason of 2024.

His strength lies in his well-rounded utility play and ability to contribute across both fights and intel-gathering. Sova has been his most-used recent agent, where he has posted a 1.17 rating, 1.30 K/D and 76% KAST. He has also found success on Fade, recording a 1.21 rating and 1.26 K/D in his recent sample.

Sayonara has also had a successful run with the Challengers team, picking up an MVP award and winning the Spanish league title. Moving from regional tournaments to the VCT arena, Champions Shanghai presents Sayonara’s first chance to prove his talent on the biggest stage of VALORANT.

3. Xross – Nongshim RedForce

Xross enters the tournament at Champions Shanghai with a point of difference that not many can boast of: international championship experience. He played a crucial role in helping the team together won Masters Santiago 2026 at the expense of Paper Rex with a score of 3:0, as well as finishing as a runner-up in Pacific Stage 2.

Xross’s strength is not just about straightforward fragging. He has made good use of his initiator and aggressive play styles, especially with Sova as one of his most popular agents. In his last 90 matches, his Sova scores are a 1.09 rating with 1.13 K/D and 75% KAST. His international experience is another major asset. In the Masters Santiago grand final, Xross recorded 277 ACS, 60 kills and 84.2% KAST, including a 359 ACS performance on Sova on one map.

With another international tournament ahead, Shanghai gives Xross an opportunity to build on his masters-winning campaign and test himself against the world’s strongest teams. Nongshim RedForce is ranked second in our VALORANT Power Rankings, just behind 100Thieves, so his team could just go all the way.

2. slowly – TYLOO

Slowly arrived at Champions Shanghai following his contribution to a TYLOO victory in VCT China Stage 2, where they claimed a 3-1 victory over JD Gaming in the final. He received the award for Final MVP and also the title of VCT China MVP for Season 2026.

During Stage 2, slowly posted a 1.22 rating, 1.30 K/D, 250 ACS and 161.7 ADR across 30 maps. His aggressive style and strong mechanics makes him particularly effective in individual duels. He has recently played Jett, Waylay and Chamber, with a 1.33 rating and 1.64 K/D on Chamber in his recent sample.

A former professional CS:GO player, slowly brings several years of competitive experience into VALORANT. After dominating the Chinese stage in 2026, Shanghai will be his chance to prove himself against the world’s best.

1. N4RRATE – Karmine Corp

Having previously navigated the high-pressure environment of Sentinels, N4RRATE is no stranger to the spotlight. The American player joined Karmine Corp in March 2026 after playing for the Sentinels previously. His comeback with KC was very fruitful as the EMEA Stage 2 Championship was won by the team with a score of 3-1 against Team Liquid in the finals.

A look at his VALORANT stats shows how outstanding N4RRATE’s performance in Stage 2 was; his statistics reflected a rating of 1.21 and a kill/death ratio of 1.34. He excelled in multiple playoff games, notably recording 304 ACS on Lotus against Enterprise Esports. Instead of being limited to a traditional entry role, in recent times, N4RRATE has also performed well using Chamber and Phoenix. Throughout his career, he has also utilized various initiator agents like Fade and Gekko.

The interesting question in Shanghai is whether N4RRATE can maintain that confidence against the best team from every region

VALORANT Champions Shanghai will eventually separate the teams that can perform regionally from those that can handle the pressure of a world championship.

N4RRATE brings fierce aggression, gradually applying advanced mechanics, Xross gives global experience and utility impact, Sayonara offers consistency and information play, while Timotino provides 100T with one more threat of aggressive entry.

Now the biggest stage has come for these five players. The city of Shanghai is not just another tournament for them, it is their chance to convert regional victories, worldwide experience, or quick career progression into their championship performance.

Nonetheless, with the intense action, there are going to be plenty of VALORANT betting opportunities at the event.
