Don’t get banned: How to verify a Faceit account

Faceit 2.0 has introduced a new anti-cheat smurf detection system trained to catch smurfs. However, it lets players go about their day if they’re able to verify a main Faceit account.

On November 26, Faceit launched a suite of new features aimed at improving the competitive CS2 experience on the platform. With additions like a votekick system to handle disruptive players and an upgraded club system to foster team-building, Faceit 2.0 is setting new standards for fairness. While all new additions have been well-received, players are particularly thrilled about smurf-detection.

Instead of just catching cheaters, Faceit anti-cheat now detects multi-accounts by using behavior patterns and player information.

How to verify account on Faceit

Players with multiple Faceit accounts must verify a main to prevent getting banned.

When Faceit detects multiple accounts matching a player’s information and behavior, it will request verification. The verification window will remain open for two days, during which players can follow these steps to secure their account.

  • Login to Faceit account and click on the profile icon
  • Select “Faceit verified” from the list
  • Click on the orange “Verify this account” option
  • Select your country, and then click on the “Verify” icon

Once players do that, the platform will ask for the following verification methods.

  • Scan QR code
  • Face capture
  • Document capture

Ensure an ID is available and be prepared to take a live photo. Verification cannot be completed by uploading a photo. The only method for verification is through posing live.

How to verify Faceit account

Verifying an account on Faceit is still optional, but it’s important for players with multiple accounts. Those with a single account can continue playing without any issues. However, players with multiple accounts risk having all accounts banned if caught smurfing and fail to complete verification within 48 hours.

Accounts that fail to verify within the given timeframe will be banned or fully blocked until verification is completed, since it implies the players were caught surfing. After getting caught, the only thing smurfs can do is save their main account. The unverified ones will be permanently banned anyway. Verified main accounts connected to the smurf may still face a short-term ban as a penalty.
