After a disastrous start to the split (and first half of the year, even), Fnatic finally woke up in their wins against SK Gaming, G2 Esports, and Shifters. Then when facing Natus Vincere, their flaws came right through again. While they had great early games, they couldn’t hold their leads at all and crumbled in the mid game.

As for Team Vitality, they’ve been undefeated since their first week. Once again, they take up their role of being the roadblock for the teams under the top two.

Fnatic isn’t hopeless in this match-up either. While their match against NAVI was disappointing, it was far from the lifeless FNC that we saw throughout the year. This time, Fnatic still made plays and got a strong lead around the map before throwing it away by being disjointed once more.

Against G2, they even showed a very decisive form. Preparing for plays early, committing to them, not overplaying as much, this was a clear step up. If it’s easier to play cleanly against lower-ranked teams like SK and SHFT, G2 isn’t one of these opponents.

However, Vitality will still be among the foes that will pressure them more. A higher pressure makes it harder to play cleanly, and causes the opponents to make more mistakes.

VIT has a tendency to fall on their own sword and lose games while trying to fight for a lead. Vitality’s erratic drafts don’t help them either. On the other hand, they will catch a throw and each of their players will make use of any lead they will get.
