FUT Esports win first CS2 tournament at PGL Bucharest 2026

FUT Esports – one of the youngest top-tier CS2 rosters with an average age of 19.3 – have secured their first notable tournament win at PGL Bucharest 2026. The young squad took down Astralis 3-1 in the Best of 5 grand final to lift the trophy.

From Academy Team to Champions

FUT have come a long way, as the core roster were initially members of the NAVI Junior squad. This lineup of prospects have turned into a title-winning roster, and credit goes to their undeniable firepower.

They’ve slowly risen to the Tier 1 ranks for being aim demons, but the one thing that was holding them back was a lack of experience. Still, that concern didn’t pose much of a threat in the grand final of PGL Bucharest 2026, as FUT looked cool and confident.

The young roster managed to win their first Best of 5 series at a big event, and did it convincingly. They completely blew Astralis out of the water with a 3-1 scoreline. Aside from a close overtime loss in the third map, FUT had complete control of the game, securing the remaining maps 13-5, 13-5, and 13-3.

Astralis Still Trophyless After Six Years

When there’s a winner, there’s always a loser, and that happens to be Astralis. Despite finding recent success and climbing to third place in the VRS rankings, the Danish organization continues to struggle when it comes to closing out tournaments.

Astralis have been on a trophy drought for over six years now, which is a surprising stat considering the organization’s rich legacy. With how the team was playing in the group stage, PGL Bucharest really looked like the perfect opportunity for them to break that streak.

Unfortunately, HooXi and company just didn’t show up at all in the grand final. Even though Astralis started the series on their map pick of Ancient, they were completely demolished. The team’s rookie, ryu, was rendered to only two kills on the opening map. From that point onward, the team couldn’t recover, and let the grand final slip away.

18-Year-Old Cmtry Wins First MVP

It was clear that FUT were the best CS2 team at the event, and they fully deserved the trophy. They took down the highest-ranked teams at the event, beating PARIVISION, TheMongolZ, and Astralis.

The entire team was shooting lasers throughout the tournament, as that’s exactly what this roster does. However, the MVP award was handed to 18-year-old AWPer cmtry, who is one of the youngest members of the squad.

Though PGL Bucharest 2026 didn’t necessarily feature the top dogs like Team Vitality, Team Falcons, or Team Spirit, this is still a much-needed victory for this promising FUT lineup. This win should give them a nice confidence boost and an injection of experience. This team really looks like the next generation of Counter-Strike players in the making.
